Tomorrow the third German Softball Mixed Championship begins in Geilenkirchen, Germany. The winner and the second best teams of each regional base- and softball associations will face each other in a two day tournament.

I'll play there with the Trier Cardinals, two time German Baseball Champion in '96 and '97. Our softball team were south-west German Champs multiple times in the last years and we want to win this one wink.gif

Other teams are...

Bous Lokomotive
Aachen Aixplosives
Munich Krasshoppers
Niku Jagahs (Berlin)
Crosshill Creeps (Berlin)
Berlin Borg
Paderborn Pitchbulls
Paderborn Oldbones
Bochum Barflies
Werler Wölfe
Karlsruhe Cougars

I will provide some scores, stats and pictures when I'm home again on Sunday.

Wish me good luck wink.gif

Ok, we didn't win the cup, but we made an excellent 3rd place.

We started the Group games with two wins.

Trier Cardinals - Karlsruhe Cougars 3-2
Trier Cardinals - Berlin Borg 14-4

The quarterfinal was also quite easy. "Experts" thought we should have been happy with reaching the quarterfinals, but we wanted more wink.gif

Trier Cardinals - Bochum Barflies 13-1

But we weren't able to beat our opponent in the semi-finals. A great pitcher and two errors by us was everything they had and it was too much for our offense.

Trier Cardinals - Paderborn Pitchbulls 3-6

But we were happy with our work so far. So with a great attitude we played against the Niku Jaghas, a japanese team from Berlin, to find out who's going to take the third place.

Trier Cardinals - Niku Jaghas 13-3

The team that won against us in the semifinals also became German Champion with a 7-6 victory against the Aachen Aixplosives.

I've set myself some goals: 5 SB and 0 E's. But I didn't reach them tongue.gif Just played two games and was a Pinch Runner in one game.
2-6, 2B, 1 SB, 2 R, 1 E

Nice job MP. Looks like you guys had fun ... not at all like most "beer-league" softball teams you'll find here in the States.

I will continue with our South-West German Championship wink.gif

We're playing single tournaments with 2-3 games for each team. The teams face each other twice.

Today we had our second tournament in Saarbrücken. Host was the "River Bandits" team from Saarbrücken.

The first game against the River Bandits was a solid 4 inning 19-0 victory for our team. 1-2, 2 BB, SB, R for me.

The Saarbrücken Blues were our second opponent and we also won that game with 12-5. It actually was an easy game but in the second inning (we were leading 5-0) our defense fell in some sort of black hole for 5 minutes and made four errors. These four errors turned into four runs, but our offense was better than the rest again and scored seven more runs in the following innings.

Right now we're leading the league after five games with five won games.

Again I uploaded some images, but the battery was low after some minutes (I really need to get a new battery -.-). I also added some more pictures from the German Championship in Geilenkirchen.

And we had two games again last weekend:

Trier Cardinals vs. Saarbrücken River Bandits 20-0
Mainz Athletics vs. Trier Cardinals 0-21

Now we're 7-0 and it seems, we're heading for our 4th South-West Championship.

1. Trier Cardinals 7-0 1.000 0
2. Bous Lokomotive 6-1 .857 1
3. Mainz Athletics 3-5 .375 4.5
4. Saarbrücken River Bandits 1-6 .143 6
5. Saarbrücken Blues 1-6 .143 6

5 games left...

Noooooooo! We lost our first game!

The tournament in Bous ended with two victories and one loss for us.

The first game was against Lokomotive Bous which we lost with 2-4. The second was against Saarbrücken River Bandits and it was an easy 11-1. The last game of that day was against our rivals the Mainz Athletics. We knocked them down with 15-6.
But I have to say we only had two women that day so we were forced to play with 8 people in the defense and with an automatic out when reaching the number 9 on the line up.

Now all eyes are on the last tournament of the season in September. It's going to be in Trier, so it's a home game for us.

There we face Lokomotive Bous again...

Current standings:

1. Trier Cardinals 9-1 .900 0
2. Bous Lokomotive 8-1 .889 0.5
3. Saarbrücken Blues 3-6 .333 5.5
4. Mainz Athletics 3-7 .300 6
5. Saarbrücken River Bandits 1-9 .100 8

A little shocked to see catchers wearing actual equipment. What kind of rules do you play? Is this fast or modified pitch?
mp33
It's fast pitch. Btw, this season wasn't that successful. Ended up being second but at least I became the All-Star 1st baseman tongue.gif
