Game time: 7:05 pm

Scheduled starters: Cliff Lee (2-1, 5.93) v. Curt Schilling (4-2, 3.94)

The game will be on NESN.

Boston weather:

noon observation at KBOS: wind out of the southwest at 10 mph, visibility 7 miles, few clouds at 6,500 feet, broken clouds at 12,000 feet, temperature 73F, DP 62F

Forecast: A summer night! The last of the showers should be well out to sea by game time. The back edge of the cloud shield is near the Connecticut River, and the sun is starting to poke out east of 495. The 11 am observation at Boston had an overcast layer at 14,000 feet, but that's breaking, and all that should be left this afternoon are some mid-level clouds. There could be a stray shower this afternoon, but the air is stable, so there's little threat of thunder. It's still humid in Boston, but dew points west of Worcester are all below 60F, so it will be drying out.

The wind will be west to southwest, and could get a bit gusty this afternoon, but should settle down this evening. The wind will be blowing out toward left center/left. Got that, Curt!

Hopefully Coco will want to show his former teammates that they shouldn't have given up on him. Indeed, he should also show his current teammates that they should not give up on him.

The Tribe is pretty scary this year. So are we. Should be a good series.

Welcome home, Trot. Glad to see you are doing well this year. You may continue to do well again, starting Thursday. Until then, Ks will be fine. Thanks.

Curt: If you want big bucks to play next year, you need to win starts like these. Just do it.

No Ortiz again tonight according to Rotoworld, we will see WMP though

Mildly concerning

LF Pena, Wily Mo 3 6 .269

Holy crap! I knew Pena wan't exactly lighting it up this year, but he had the GS against Baltimore and has 2 other HR's. Does he really not have a single RBI that wasn't on a HR?
Youuuuk!
Haha..yeah.. I think he has 1 RBI that isn't a HR. That's pretty funny.

Meh.. I would rather have seen WMP as DH.. he's fielding makes me cry inside.
RedSoxAnni
Weather update...

The wind is out of the west at 12 mph, with gusts to 28 mph. I expect the gusts to settle down after the sun goes down, but there could be some adventures in the outfield in the first couple innings...

The dew point at KBOS is 41F, down from 62F earlier in the day, so it will be a comfortable night, with temperatures in the low 70s.
Youuuuk!
Yeahh..I meant to say that he doesn't have even 1 RBI that isnt' from a HR.

This is one of the first whole games that I will get to see this season. yay.
Ralpho316
Travis Hafner scares the shit out of me.
SuperManny
Hey how was Trots reception during the opening?
NJSoxFan
I didn't like that little tidbit ... no Papi perhaps for all 3 games?

No es bueno

He got a nice standing O. Pretty much what you'd expect.

Between the outing and the holiday this sure is a dead game thread.
MDKing
Nice, easy inning from Schill, now let's get him some runs.

Youk just keeps plugging away.

Must be watching the Stanley Cup Finals.

Go Sens?
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
Damn, thought that was gone off the bat.
MDKing
Really nice to see Drew go the other way instead of rolling over everything.
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
What the ****, Lowell?

Break this shit open, Julio.
Lesbian BoyFriend
Aaaaaaand Lugo strikes out
MDKing
Too bad Lee walked Pedroia, I like his chances there better than Lugo's.
czar
Arg. I wanted Lugo to break that one open there.
TreeRol
Julio Lugo: Killing us from the leadoff spot since April 2007.
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
He needs to move down in the order - I'd try moving Drew up to the leadoff spot.

And Tito, stop putting the automatic out in the 2-hole, especially when you have another automatic out leading off. Absolutely ridiculous.
Red Sox Fan2
Jesus, just like Crisp what the hell happend to the .290/.360/.430 Lugo? Any way to get Hanley back? rolleyes.gif

Nice catch Tek!

Coco's OBP has been over .350 since April 18th. Not great, but he's not an automatic out. In fact, he's been more than passable since the first couple weeks of the season.

Drew leading off is definitely not happening. I'd rather see Pedroia up in the 1 or 2 spot, and I'm lukewarm at best regarding that.

Glad someone lit a fire under Schilling's ass for this game so far.

Enough crap in the booth. That health care bit was the lamest thing I've ever seen in the booth.
czar
Yanks down 3-0--- I should give my friend a call-- the one who told me DeSalvo was like the Yankee version of Jon Lester.
Caspir
Well Manny looks good.
czar
Grilling.
Caspir
Who was that actor pimping health care? My goodness, has that guy ever spoken to a group of people in his life? You know, you know, you know, y'know, you know. Every other word out of his mouth was "you know."

Do I watch the Red Sox to hear this crap all game? Show some baseball, geez.

I would have gone with Aaron Small but ok... unsure.gif

Yeah that Manny guy is cooked rolleyes.gif

Manny is clearly done.

You know they regretted that one half way through.
MFLetou
You know, you're right.

Nice jinx, Don. "So far, no runs on the board for the Indians.." fast forward, oh, 1 nanosecond, "up the middle...

Alright, anybody else REALLY miss Trot Nixon? I mean, REALLY?

Yeah, yeah...sentimal, I know, I know...but he had personality. I realize that gets you nothing on the field, but I'm not talking about that. Over and above the baseball decision that was made, I still really miss the guy. He was the real go to guy in a brawl, too.

Perhaps its time to move Pedroia up in the lineup on days when Manny and Ortiz aren't both playing?
MDKing
I'd much rather have that 20th pick right now.
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
He intentionally tried to sell it, Jerry.
MDKing
Ugh, Lugo probably could have had Peralta with a decent tag.
Red Sox Fan2
Holy crap she was good. Next American Idol?
MTSUDaff
I don't have the extra innings package this year, but the stat line looks like Schill was vintage warrior material tonight. 7 IP, 1 ER, 10 K's, 114 pitches. Was he vintage, or was it extremely hard-earned?
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
Beast.
Lou Duffys Cliff
Now Youks, next time hit it a little more to the right and you won't have to run so hard.
BigSlick
Holy Crap!!! You don't see that every day.

Can someone give some details on the ITPHR? Thanks!
SFFM38
Hmm, interesting now who was the last red sox player that did it? I believe it happened in 2006 it might have been AGonz but thinking tonight is playing tricks on me!
MFLetou
He hit it to straightaway Center, but it started tailing toward the triangle. Ended up hitting where it juts out for the bullpens, and bounced straight back along the Green Monster. Nixon ended up fielding it (all the way over from right), but his throw in was half hearted because by the time he even got to the ball, Youks was rounding third.

Schilling: Vintage Warrior. A lot of swings and misses.

Long fly into the triangle, The ball hit the wall on the rigt side of the triagle and shot towards straightaway center field. Trot actually was the one who ran it down in front of the garage but he didn't get to it until Youk was already at 3rd. 2 feet to the right and it lands in the bullpen.

Solid job by NESN--they had the higlight up by the next at bat. Nixon in 2005 vs NY. Before that, I believe it was Pokey Reese.

Toronto 7, New York 0, btw

You mean for a ground rule double or a homerun? Thanks, and to MFLetou also for the descrips!
