RHP Cody McAllisterDOB: 3/21/84
Ht/Wt: 6'2" 190 lbs.
signed: 5/14/07 as a non-drafted free agent.
college: Oklahoma City University (NAIA)
McAllister finished 10-2 with a 3.86 ERA in 14 starts as a fifth-year senior at Oklahoma City University. His K/BB was 94/21 in 88 2/3 innings. The knock on him is that he has a propensity for giving up too many longballs. He gave up 11 in his 88 2/3 2007 IP, however only 6 in 67 IP in 2006, while maintaining an excellent 81/19 K/BB. The assumption is that he will start in extended spring training before beginning his pro career in Short-A Lowell.
Unfortunately, it appears those close to him do call him "C-Mac..."MVN Reports McAllister signing.soxprospects.com page (they beat me to it)Oklahoma City U. player pageMore in-depth stats from dakstats

Instead of going to Lowell, McAllister remains at Greenville for the time being and has started to steal some of the Drive's save opps from Josh Papelbon...

If his
milb.com player page is any indication, McAllister is slated to start the year at high-A Lancaster once again. He struggled at the launching pad at the end of last year (McAllister's first as a pro,) so I guess it makes sense.
It is critical for McAllister to get rid of the home run spectre that haunts him. He gave up 5 HR in 28 2/3 innings at Lancaster last year. Since he was a NDFA and not a ranked prospect, 2008 will be a pivotal year for his career. McAllister turned 24 last week.
