The Love Below
A buddy of mine and I were trying to create an all earflaps team, just a club consisting of guys that we recall rocking double earflap helmets for the bulk of their MLB career. However, this is a tough list to compile.

Here's what I got so far...

C -
1B -
2B - Mark Bellhorn
3B - Terry Pendleton
SS -
OF - Shane Victorino
OF - Vince Coleman
OF - Willie McGee
DH - Junior Felix

A little help?

No Trot? And you call yourself a Sox fan... rolleyes.gif

Did helmet (John Olerud) have a double ear flap?
The Love Below
Did you miss the 'bulk of their MLB career' part? Trot wore the flaps for about a week or so.

And you question my status as a Sox fan, then ask if Olerud wore one. Sheesh.

Just thought of another guy....Delino DeSheilds.

Add Chuck Carr to that as well.

Ah you got me. I'm pretty sure Olerud wore a flap though unsure.gif

I thought Trot kept the flaps because it gave him more "balance".

Of course Olerud wore a f*cking ear flap. Every player who started in the majors after 1983 has worn a f*cking ear flap! The last three guys to not wear one (grandfathered in since they played prior to 1983) were Ozzie Smith, Gary Gaetti, and Tim Raines. How can you only be "pretty sure" Olerud wore a helmet with an ear flap?? That's like saying you are "pretty sure" he used a bat to hit the ball, rather than a frozen side of beef.

Hmm I typed in ear flaps and I got....

Hmmm.

Frankly I don't think I could care enough to go browsing the web to search for people who wore "ear-flaps". I didn't know and I really don't care. About 90% of questions or comments on this board could be looked up at "www.google.com".

Fumblenuts may have been referring to Olerud's fielding helmet, which, IIRC, had no ear flaps at all.

I feel dirty having tried to think like RSF2. I need to go shower now...

Wouldn't most switch hitters have double flaps? Or do they just use two helmets? I've never really thought to look...

Varitek, Carl Everett, Posada, Teixeira...they all don't.

RSF2, if you don't 'care', then why the hell are you posting in this thread?

I don't care to research who wore a double ear flap. My original intent was just to throw Trot out there.
Ellis Greenwell
This is a great idea. Terry Pendleton was the 1st to come to mind. I need to give this some more thought. I'm sure ithis could grow to a 25-man roster.

Otis Nixon, during the early part of his career. Willie Harris. Bronson Arroyo. Shin-Soo Choo. There must be more!

I'm pretty sure Otis Nixon wore one with the Sox. Can't believe I forgot that one. Nice pick ups on the rest of them!

How about Izzy Alcantara? I have a vague feeling that he rocked the double flaps during his short stay in Boston...
The Love Below
I remember Chuck Knoblauch wearing them back when he was with the Twinkies.

We're so far ahead of the Yankees that there's an earflaps thread.

Wow.

I guess I'd rather talk about mudflaps, but y'all have at it. I can't get it up for this thread, and only had the "mudflaps" thing to add, which is admittedly kind of "meh".
NU five oh
Willie Harris

Shit, I was hoping to come up with Choo.
The Love Below
Orlando Hudson!
The Love Below
Ok, was wrong about Knoblauch, but it turns out that Jose Vidro wore one regularly during his early days in Montreal.

What the hell is up with all the second basemen on this list?
