With the pitching matchup, the late cross-country flight, and Papelbon and Okajima being presumably unavailable, the odds of winning this game are rather slim.
Tavarez only averages 5 innings a start, and has completely blown up any time he's tried to go deeper than that. Combine that with the bullpen being run ragged all weekend against the Yanks and a cross-country flight all morning, and I think this is gonna be one of those games where you just have to take one on the chin so you don't jeopardize the next three after it.
Romero is the only fresh guy out there, Okajima and Papelbon are no-goes in any scenario IMO, Donnelly and Lopez could probably pitch if needed.
I see Tavarez going into the 7th giving up a bunch of runs, and the offense not doing anything off Haren. Sometimes you've gotta sacrifice, I guess.

5 IP of Tavarez than 4 innings of Piniero, Snyder, Romero, and Lopez.

Maybe Tavarez will have another 7 IP, 1 ER run start like he did a few weeks back.. that would be nice. Not likely, but nice.
Maybe Haren will implode after his string of quality starts.. that would be nice. Not likely, but nice.
Yeah..

Nice to see everyone feeling positive about tonight...

Haha, yeah.. we do still have a chance.
After all, Haren hasn't faced the Boston bats this year..maybe they will have a good night.
No matter how you look at it though, the probability of winning tonight is not in our favor. Although, that doesnt' mean it won't happen.

Pedroia leading off.
Hells, yes.
Granted, 7-9 is looking sort of dismal.
I would say 6-9, but at least Drew gets on base from BBs pretty often

May be some bunt hits in there though (being the optimist here).

Drew walks,
Crisp sac bunts,
Mirabelli grounds to 2nd, moves Drew to third
Hinske gets hit in the face
Pedroia singles home Drew.
That should be good for at least three runs this game I figure.

Good news about the MFY.
Better news that Haren isn't looking nearly as sharp as he has lately.

I really don't mind it, especially Varitek. There's still very little chance we win this game, even with the A team. It's not like last year when he played the entire bench against, ironically enough, Joel Piniero.

It's not on TV here either, but on ESPN they just said Crisp was scratched late becuase he had an upset stomach.
I hope it's not what Dice-K had.. and I hope it doesn't go around the clubhouse.

A's announcer said Crisp was a late scratch with a tummy ache. WMP gives me a big pain in the back of the neck. Brutal play in center slowing down on that hit by Ellis.

Dehydration due to the flu was reportedly the cause of Papi's hamstring problems. At least that's what Miller (or Morgan but I hate giving him credit for anything) said last night. No question its making the rounds.
