For anyone who's going to miss the game today (stupid work), it's worth noting that NESN will be replaying the game in an abbreviated 2 hrs. tonight beginning at 8 PM
NESN Schedule
Curt Schilling's had a pattern this year of one great start, one average start, and one terrible start. He was great against Cleveland, average against the Yanks...let's hope he breaks this cycle to prevent the sweep.

However, Yahoo Sports lists him in the lineup today.

Time for a big first inning. Blanton may be a good pitcher, but at least he isn't a soft-tossing lefty. Mr. Lugo, will you please start things off with a hit?

Fastball from 89-93, he is throwing strikes with the fastball, curveball, and changeup. He has not busted out the splitter very much. Overall looking very good, although there have been a few long flyouts.

There seems to be a different feeling, or at least there was after last night's 3-2 loss to Oakland.
"Intensity, all kinds of stuff, it's just not there," David Ortiz said. "Hopefully we'll come back tomorrow, figure things out."
QUOTE
Terry Francona disagreed with David Ortiz's statement last night that the team was lacking intensity.
"I don't agree," he said. "To me I chalk that up to a guy giving a quote on the way to shower. I actually think our intensity has been very good. I think there's some frustration. We're rolling over on some balls, a little tired and edgy. No, I don't."

Everyone says Coco, however Lugo has batted in a much more important place in our line-up all year and sucked, played much worse defense to his position compared to Coco, and while we know that we have a bevy of outfielders that can come up this season/next season + beyond, we don't have anyone coming up at SS as far as I know. So, since we're saddled for the next 3+ yrs potentially, and likely Coco won't be in our outfield next season, I am much more worried about Lugo than I am Crisp.

All I know is if Schilling falls apart here, I'll have to hunt you down Vic as this will kill my fantasy team this week.

After two games of umps bending us over, we have a guy today who is positively made for Curt Schilling.
Watch Curt retire the next 11, then meltdown so Lugo cost him a perfect game and a win.

Wait, you think the home plate umps have been screwing the Sox so far? I was at the game on Tuesday...the umpire was keeping Daisuke in the game by consistently calling a strike two inches off the plate to A's left handers. He almost ran a couple of A's players who were screaming at him from the dugout. The strike calling has been shitty the last two games, but without a hint of one-sidedness.

I don't know about the A's pitching overall, but I know two things:
1) Dinardo is not a 6 inning, no run guy
2) We have three starters hitting under .230, and if Wake's pitching, one hitting under .180

A little, yes... perhaps my perspective is skewed by my being a Sox fan here(I wouldnt be shocked) but there have been some terrible, terrible calls at big moments for Boston this series.
They did help Dice K, though, and theyre certainly helping Schill.

A's have given up the second least runs in the majors, behind only San Diego. The gap between OAK and SD and the rest is pretty big too...
EDIT: Clarified. The A's pitching is really excellent. Thats the major reason losing 3 out of 4/getting swept wont bother me all that much.
