Game time: 9:40 pm
Scheduled starters: Josh Beckett (8-0, 2.95) v. Doug Davis (4-6, 3.05)
The game will be on NESN.
Phoenix weather:
Noon local (3 pm EDT) observation at KPHX: Wind variable at 3 mph, visibility 10 miles, sky clear, temperature 91F, DP 26F.
Forecast: At least it isn't humid! It's dry as the desert out there! High pressure to the east is dominating, and it should heat up to near 100F this afternoon. It'll be clear and warm tonight, probably still in the 90s by game time. The wind will be light and out of the west to southwest. That'll be blowing out toward right, slightly across from left to right if they keep the roof open.
Roof forecast: How hot does it have to be before they turn on the AC out there?

Did Tito say anything about his lineup? Is Papi going to play? Are they going to rotate Papi-Lowell-Youk?
Wily Mo or Drew tonight?

There's nothing specific yet for tonight's game, but there was a lot of print on this issue over the last couple days; it's in the news links. Francona was quoted saying that he felt there should be a DL in interleague play.
I suspect they'll go with Wily Mo tonight against the lefty.

I suppose this belongs in the words and thoughts thread.

Here's some good news..
Arizona went into the 11th inning last night, and went through 5 of their bullpens guys.
Schilling pitched a complete game..our entire bullpen is well-rested.
So that's looking good.
Pitchers should never bat. I hate NL Baseball, it's like a carnival game or something.
I don't know if that dry climate is going to be good for Beckett's sinking stuff, but it hasn't hurt Webb any out there...he just has to pitch better than his opponent.

The start times in Arizona are designed to make it as hard as possible for us get into down town during rush hour. I defy anyone to give me another reason! They also funnel everyone through as few gates as possable to ensure that even after leaving work early and getting down town in time, you still miss the first inning.
Which is why I'll be leaving work 3 hours before game time and making what should be a 30 min. drive any other time of day, with the hope of seeing the first pitch.

3:40 a.m. start time - not good. I'll get up about 100 minutes later, and will expect things to be well in hand by then. Let's build some momentum again.
With a lefty going for them, I say give Papi and Drew a rest tonight.

I was in Phoenix/Tempe in early April, we stayed over on our way back from Cabo San Lucas. I loved it there. Ironic was the fact that there is a sports bar in Tempe called "Boston's", they had the Suns game, the D-Backs, and the Coyotes games all going, it was great. I never got to ask why in Tempe, there was a bar called "Boston's". Anyone familiar?

Well damn, and I thought I was the only New Mexican to post on this site but I guess I was wrong. I agree, that being a sox fan down here sucks I had to get MLB TV. just to survive. I'm going to the game in AZ tomorrow though. My guess is papi plays first and youk sits.

The 5 pm (local) report has it at 97F, with the wind out of the SSW gusting to 17 mph. The winds should settle down after it gets dark, but that won't be for 4 hours. The winds are blowing out toward right center now.

Coco, the pitchers spot, and Lugo in the 8,9 and 1 spots are going to make for some short innings this weekend. That's a minimum of 9 to 12 basically automatic outs each game. MLB could make the game go faster by giving the Red Sox six turns at bat instead of nine. The end product would be the same.
