Game time: 7:05 pm
Scheduled starters: Aaron Cook (4-2, 4.54) v. Tim Wakefield (5-7, 4.22)
The game will be on NESN.
Boston weather:
2 pm observation at KBOS: Wind out of the east southeast at 9 mph, visibility 10 miles, scattered clouds at 3,400 feet, broken clouds at 6,000 and 8,000 feet, temperature 69F, DP 56F
Forecast: We are sitting between a low just south of Nova Scotia, and a high over the Great Lakes. Over the past two days, bands of rain and thundershowers have circulated around the low through NE. Because the circulation is counterclockwise, the bands are moving northeast to southwest. The low is drifting to the southwest, and the bands will meet up with the high pressure ridge off to the west, resulting in some rain and possibly thunder later today. The flow at the coast and in the upper air is out of the northeast, and that is keeping the air cool and relatively stable near the coast, so the greatest chance for thunder will be inland.
Right now, there's a line of thunderstorms just west of the Mass/NY line, but remember that it is moving to the southwest, and not toward Boston.
At game time, there will be a chance of showers, but most likely not enough to delay the game. It will be in the 60's, with an east wind, which is blowing in.

Tonight's lineup according to an unattributed SoSH post and now confirmed by the globe:
Pedroia
Youkilis
Ortiz
Manny
Drew
Lowell
Crisp
Belli
Lugo
I wonder whether Lowell will get an IBB if there are runners on and a base open. I'm happy to see an order that makes sense OBP wise. Did Tito get a talking-to after the brainfart that was Sunday's lineup?
Rox:
1. Willy Taveras, CF
2. Kaz Matsui, 2B
3. Matt Holliday, LF
4. Todd Helton, 1B
5. Garrett Atkins, 3B
6. Brad Hawpe, RF
7. Ryan Spilborghs, DH
8. Troy Tulowitzki, SS
9. Yorvit Torreabla, C

I don't like the fact that the guy hired to leadoff has to bat 9th because of lack of ability.
But it's compensated by the fact that the guy hired to bat 9th is leading off because of lots of ability.
Play for the win!

The weather is fine here. It's cool, and there's a northeast wind off the ocean. As I noted in the first post, there's a chance of showers, but nothing that should affect the game. The atmosphere is cool and stable here in the eastern part of the state. What you are seeing out in NYC is the result of lift from the bands circulating around the low mixing with the high pressure ridge.
