Anyone else collect? I try and get mine authenticated (GAI or PSA) or I buy them that way! I have amassed quite a collection that I am psyched with. Here is a off the head run down of some personal favorites for various reasons:

Non Authenticated Gehrig picture, family heirloom.
16x20 DiMaggio picture.
Mantle and Dimaggio 1950 WS picture.
2 8x 10 Mantle photos.
Mantle ball.
A Mantle plate with the sig fired in.
Berra signed 1958 yearbook.
Rizutto 1961 'MVP' Topps card.
Hank Bauer 8x10 pic.
Game used and signed Whitey Ford jersey.
Game used and signed Bobby Richardson jersey.
Game used and signed Paul O'Neill jersey.
Game used and signed Sheffield jersey.
8x10 Richardson picture.
Jeter and A-Rod 8x10.
A-Rod, Matsui, and Sheffield picture.
Alex Rodriguez 8x10.
Famous shot of Aaron Boone rounding the bases (8x10).
2 Graig Nettles 8X10 pics.
Ball signed by Mattingly and Randolph.
Sparky Lyle ball.
Hal Lanier ball.
Dennis Rasmussen ball.
Charles Hudson ball.
Gary Ward ball.
Dave Righetti ball.

and my stupid Uncle just parted with another family heirloom for about $1,000 (if memory serves) - a signed and over 80 year old team 1927 ball passed down from through the family from an uncle for generations who was friends with Ruth back then. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I would have snatched that in a second if I knew he was parting with it.

Oh yeah, I have a signed Reggie candy bar as well, believe it or not. It is in my arrogant asshole pile with a Dave Winfield ball!

Other notable non-Yankees include; Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Duke Snider, George Brett, and for other sports Pele, Wayne Gretzky, Tim Brown, Jerry Rice. Also have a grip of lesser players not worth the authentication process at this point.

That is awesome man. Couldn't' have stumbled on a better Yankee to have sign something. My Sox collection is limited to Williams and Bruce Hurst - who could not have been nicer when I met him despite my Yankee attire! smile.gif

I have a very slight Yankee connection in one autograph I collected... smile.gif (I love this story)

I bought Clemens' book "Rocket Man", the autobiography written with Peter Gammons and published back in 1987. When the Red Sox came to Seattle in late April that year, I had the book all ready to get autographed during BP before the first game, but Roger was nowhere in sight the whole time.

But I DID see Bruce Hurst, and sidled up to him alongside the other fans who were happily getting autographs from him. I found a page in the book with a picture of Hurst running alongside Clemens in the outfield (it may have been during Spring Training the year before), and got Hurst to sign that picture which he did over his own figure. I naively asked him if he could ask Clemens to come over and sign, too, and he said (what nearly every baseball player will say, I found out later), "Oh, you'll have to ask him yourself..." At least he said it with a smile.

Well, after hanging around every Red Sox game I could go to and going down to Spring Training for the Red Sox four times between 1988 and 1997 when Roger was a Blue Jay, I didn't get within sniffing distance of Clemens but once -- when I had a field pass during Spring Training, and was there specifically to take pictures for a fanzine. I would have been drummed out of the "amateur fanzine photographer/writer corps" if I'd had the temerity to ask him for an autograph.

Besides, he would have just run over me -- I have a picture of him and John Marzano running together towards me at Chain 'O Lakes Park, hooked together by a Walkman they're both listening to.

Broke down and bought something with a Red Sox player and autograph on ot. Feel like a traitor, sort of.

Signed and authenticated framed photo of Ted Williams, Joe D, and Mickey Mantle. Probably going to be the centerpiece of my collection! smile.gif
