RedSoxAnni
Game time: 2:05 pm

Scheduled starters: Matt Morris (7-3, 2.56) v. Tim Wakefield (6-7, 3.92)

The game will be on NESN.

Boston weather: 10 am observation at KBOS: wind out of the west at 3 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 20,000 feet, scattered clouds at 25,000 feet, temperature 77F, DP 59F.

Forecast: Summertime! It should get into the mid-80s by game time, with a west wind, which will be blowing out, and which will slow the knuckler. There's a slight chance of popup thundershowers this afternoon, but probably not as great a propability as yesterday, when there were some severe storms west of 495. The upper air is warmer today with the southwest flow, and the atmosphere is a bit more stable than it was yesterday. The dew points are rising, though. All in all, it'll be a summer day, with some high clouds and a touch of humidity.

A win makes it a 4-2 homestand, which looks just fine to me.

Figures-- Coco finally doesn't look like total crap at the plate and he gets the day off biggrin.gif

Here's to hoping WMP doesn't trip over himself in the OF. Or crash into Manny. God that has the makings of two tractor trailers hitting head on.
Youuuuk!
What a weird day to put WMP in seriously..oh well. Hope Coco can continue his positive trend tomorrow.
And yeah..let's hope Wake doesn't get many flies to center..because that might be painful.
samba guy
Anni didn't put the lineups! I feel disoriented and confused.

Bases loaded 0 outs. Terrific start.
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
It's probably to compensate for having Mirabelli in the lineup. Kudos, Tito.
SuperManny
Leadoff double for Drew followed by Pedroia HBP. Lets go Papi.
Youuuuk!
I thought Morris was supposed to be really good?
SuperManny
Heres a chance for another grand slam for Manny.

He is...in the National League
czar
Oh dammit.

Hey look.

Wakefield has 2 whole runs to work with.

Awesome.
SuperManny
At least they got 2 runs.
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
The Sox have never been to Houston, Don.
Youuuuk!
WMP's plate discipline has really improved.

Thank God.
czar
Hey, Coco could have done that! wink.gif
Youuuuk!
Nice job by the bottom of the order tongue.gif.

He is. He gave up three runs to Toronto in the first inning last week and then cruised the rest of the way for a CG win. Just struck out the side, but degree of difficulty with those three batters maybe a 3.

czar
Bad bounce off the wall or WMP might have had a play at the plate.

Let's hope he doesn't cruise for the rest of this. Especially because it looks like they are going to put a few runs up this inning.

Yup. First run(s) for the Giants in 19 innings. When Wakefield puts that knuckler up around letter high, my grandmother could hit it.
czar
Alright. Bats.

At least he held them to two runs even though his knuckler wasn't working that inning.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Not sure Pedroia needs to bunt for base hits (what, he thinks he's Coco now?), but I'll take it.

Papi: Did you bring your bat today?
Youuuuk!
Yeah. Definetly not cruising.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Thanks, Papi.

Manny: Have you got yours today?
Youuuuk!
2 RBIs on ground outs for manny.
Nice.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Manny's awfully slow. Was he hot dogging it, thinking he had a single all the way?

Youk brought his bat. I'm liking this!
Malzone64
Papi with the ground rule double. Should be umps' discretion how far the runner goes. Doesn't matter. And, Youks wants on the all star team. Lowell too! No cruise control for Morris today.

You don't get an RBI on a double play, therefore, Manny did not get an RBI in the first inning.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Michael brought his bat, too. So, who was saying that Morris is good?

I have been torn between cutting him or Homer Bailey from my fantasy team.

I might have an answer. Though it's killing me this week...

Dougie HAS a bat! My goodness...
MDKing
Wow. What a horrible throw. Thanks Winn.
czar
This is one way to end a slump.
thegame12716
4 runs scored by Drew and Peds today through 3 innings. I am beginning to like this new top of the order! It's amazing how much better a team does when the top two people in the order aren't automatic outs.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Lugo, of course, left his bat somewhere in the harbor.
Youuuuk!
Beerabelli even got a hit. Awesome.

I would agree, except I wish Tappen would take over Sports Desk and get Mae the hell out of there.

But yeah, Tappen looks great, is easier to listen to and nicer to look at than Teetha!

Well if you want, I can keep "Teetha" busy so they'll have to show more of kathryn

Papi's second ground rule double in as many atbats

The Giants have some excellent announcers: Mike Krukow, Duane Kuiper and Jon Miller, but today we get (on KNBR) Greg Papa. So far, he's given us Dustin PedroiO, Wily Mo Pinnya, and he said Johnny Pesky told him he hit 17 homers one year and 13 of them curled around the foul pole, hence, Pesky's Pole. Johnny had 17 in his whole career.! Oh well, I like the whole scene today, esp. the score. They should have more day games. Nothing like walking up the ramp and seeing the whole expanse of green, the monster, the bullpens, the sellout crowd and the blue sky when the sun is shining.
SoxFan4Life
Why don't they just walk him every time...
Malzone64
The hook, Tito, the hook. These are the Giants with the 5 runs, not a team that can hit. Wakefield is now the #5 starter, to me.

Depends on the day. Haha.
He's been very inconsistent.
Malzone64
Just what you want from your reliever, a leadoff walk. Get Donnelly in there.

He's injured.

The bullpen better hold this lead <.<

He's a good reliever.
Everyone has a bad day sometimes.
Let's see how he responds to all this.

Or he'll get pulled, haha.
