Game time: 10:05 pm EDT (7:05 pm PDT)
Scheduled starters: Daisuke Matsuzaka (8-5, 4.18) v. Greg Maddux (6-3, 3.90)
The game will be on NESN.
San Diego Weather:
Noon PDT (3 pm EDT) observation at KSAN: wind out of the south southwest at 7 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 800 feet, scattered clouds at 25,000 feet, temperature 66F, DP 56F.
Forecast: The dominating features are a high pressure ridge that is keeping the area dry and sunny during the day and a thick marine layer that brings low clouds and fog overnight and in the early morning. The visibilities were under 3 miles with stratus at 400 feet until around 10 am local, but the low clouds are burning off and it will be a sunny day in SoCal. It'll be in the low 70s to upper 60s at game time with a light wind out of the southwest, which is blowing out toward righ.

Wily Mo is 5 for 14 lifetime against Maddux, with 3 HRs. Lowell 1s 18 for 49, with 4 HRs, so he must still be hurting.

Haha, with WMP playing outfield, I bet Murphy is going to get put into the game in the 7th.

Well with Drew out and Lugo playing absolutely fantastic baseball, I don't know what you could do.
You could go Pedroia then Crisp, but honestly, I don't see what other thing you could do unless you moved Youkilis up to the #2 slot, and put Varitek in the #5 hole I suppose...
I don't see a huge problem with this though, Tito's hands were tied by Drew being out, Lugo crapping the bed, and being in an NL park-- and for the record, I'm a big advocate for keeping Crisp at the bottom of the lineup. As long as this isn't a permanent thing when he gets the DH back, I'm ok with Crisp in the 1 or 2 slots for a game or two, especially if he's hot.

I mean, he could drop off a significant deal from this little hot streak he's on and he'd still be a much better hitter than he was a month ago.
The difference between the NL and AL is not THAT much.

Aside from the old Astros uniforms, these early-80's Padres unies are funny.
Of course, our '80's road uniforms were slightly, um, bland.

I think the announcers on the ESPN telecast the other night were worse. You know, the ones talking about Tavarez "lathering the ball with his sweat after every pitch".
Nice job by Dice-K keeping the game from getting out of hand. Too bad he threw 30 pitches.

I thought they said something about "right field is bigger here" which again didn't make any sense, but I don't remember hearing "X can make those plays."
I think I would have been irritated if I did-- maybe I just missed it-- for the better.
And with that double play, next inning is officially killed with Lugo, Dice going 1-2.

The problem is the MLB.tv subscription lags in buffer behind the gameday audio, so you'd hear what happened before you saw it.
