Game time: 10:05 pm EDT/7:05 pm PDT
Scheduled Starters: Tim Wakefield (7-7, 4.18) v. Chris Young (6-3, 2.26)
The game will be on NESN.
San Diego weather:
2 pm PDT (5 pm EDT) observation at KSAN: wind out of the south at 13 mph, visibility 9 miles, few clouds at 1,400 feet, temperature 66F, DP 55F.
Forecast: It'll be another cool but pleasant evening. A trough moving inland is allowing a strong inland flow of air off the ocean, and this marine layer is keeping it cool. After the sun goes down, clouds will move in, and a stratus layer will form later in the evening. So it'll be foggy for the SoCal Rooters driving home after the game. The wind will be out of the south to southwest at less than 10 mph: that is blowing out.

Drew's numbers vs. Chris Young, the Padres and at PETCO are horrible, so maybe somethings gotta give.
For some good reading about the difference in fan bases between Red Sox and Padres fans, I suggest
TimSullivan's column in the San Diego Union-Tribune.
QUOTE
BOSTON, Calif. – Padre Nation was out in force last night. Out at the movies. Out to dinner. Out of town. Out of touch.
Petco Park, meanwhile, was Red Sox territory. Chowderhead Central. Fenway by the Pacific. Thousands of baseball fans actually paying attention to every pitch.
The Green Monster, it turns out, is envy.

Why yes, it is. Thanks Anni. I thought it would give really good perspective
considering the state of events and the thoughts about the Red Sox fans first
invasion of PETCO Park. Lots of griping here today about how loud the Red Sox
fans are and how the radio broadcast sounded like it was originating from
Fenway last night.

These guys are terrible. I understand why Padres fans aren't happy with Belli, and I wouldn't be either, but Matt Vasgersian actually said this on Bard's RBI double: "Oh man, is this hitting replete with sweet irony."

God that pisses me off. Before, I didn't care...I maybe even kind of liked the Padres. I love San Diego, I liked the park though I didn't go to a game there.
Now I hate them. I want to crush their skulls this weekend.

My wife just walked in and said, "These announcers suck". What a woman!
Let's just hope Belli gets some redemption but who cares if he goes 0 for 4 if we get the win!
C'mon Lugo, get a hit and go above the Mendoza line!
if any Red Sox fan on this board misses that Aflec question tonight, they should be cyberslapped.

Answering that simple question should be a requirement for joining this board.
Everyone knows it's Jim Rice and Tony Armas

Edit: for those on NESN, the question on the San Diego feed is who are the only two Red Sox players to hit 50 HR's in a season.

I vote it's wrong to root for him unless it's the 9th inninng and it's a possible no-hitter even then, I wouldn't do it, not that there's anything wrong with that.

I admit I was torn in the 7th inning of the Giants/Yankees game today with 2 outs, the score tied and the bases loaded and Bonds up. I decided that I was rooting for a routine grounder to Jeter that he would boot. I don't understand rooting against the Red Sox under any circumstance though.

It doesn't matter that they got it right. You can't conference and overrule if there's NO VIDEO REPLAY in baseball. Because the Umpires have seen the replay, THEY CAN'T OVERTURN THE CALL.

5-0 now. Wakefield is tough to watch often (though offense is struggling again tonight). I still can't believe he hasn't developed a second pitch to even average level over the last 15 yrs. But on the other hand, it's pretty amazing that he has been a serviceable player for over 15 yrs in the majors with what he has.
Anyways, Wakes is especially depressing to watch when I have to see Mirabelli (who is occupying a roster spot solely b/c of Wakefield) and him hit back to back in interleague play.

You can also argue that they could have saved the 3B ump some face by not changing the call, so there must be clear evidence for making the call so I guess instant replay + fans reaction did it for them.
