I'm starting to feel a JVB level of rage coming on every time I turn on the game and see Cora in there instead of Pedroia. It made sense in April when Pedroia was scuffling. But what in the world is the rationale for sitting him now and continuing to play Lugo?

Grounding out was WAAAY better than taking a goddamn 3-0 pitch to see if you could get on base and clear the pitcher's spot.
OTOH, we might've just cleared the pitcher's spot...

This may sound outrageous, but I have more confidence in Beckett getting a hit more than I do Lugo. That's why Peavy went after Lugo and didn't pitch around him. Right now Beckett is a better hitter than Lugo.

Interesting way to "get to" Peavy that inning. Lowell and Tek should have both spiked him. As it is, the player with the lowest batting average in MLB among qualifiers strands the runner at third, letting the guy off the hook. Please, please, please move Cora to short and put DP back where he belongs!

Lugo really shouldn't be in the lineup today. What makes Francona think he'll break out of his slump against Peavy?

Noticed the same thing. These two pitchers don't need generous strike zones, but the umps been pretty tough on both of them so far.

Not necessarily. The FO will pay someone to take the contract at the end of this season if he continues to suck at this level or anything close to it. We'll be paying $6M-$7M a year for him to play SS for that Nationals or some other sorry-ass small market team. Way to go, Theo.

Not being at Petco this weekend is killing me. I live 230 miles to the north of SD but I just couldn't get down there this weekend. SD is my favorite California city, everything Remy said at the top of the broadcast is dead on. Petco is located in downtown SD, right near the Gaslamp District (where a bunch of Patriot fans and I went to in 2002) and Seaport Village, a picturesque outdoor shopping mall right on the ocean. Even Qualcomm Stadium is not bad, located in the pictureque Mission Valley. I recommend to all of you to see SD some time if you can. The weather and scenery is as perfect as you have heard and seen on TV. We get down there now and then for Sea World and the Zoo, the only problem being the distance and that you have to go through LA to get there. I love SD, and I wish this had been a weekend after our summer school had ended and not during.
