Game Time: 7:05 pm
Scheduled Starters: Robinson Tejada (5-7, 6.57) v. Josh Beckett (11-1, 3.07)
The game will be on NESN.
Boston weather:
4 pm observation at KBOS: Wind out of the east at 15 mph, visbility 10 miles, 7,000 scattered, 9,500 overcast, temperature 72F, DP 58F.
Forecast:
It should be a decent evening for baseball. There's a weak cold front in central NH/VT now, and it should move through the Boston area this evening. There's a slight chance of showers with frontal passage, but probably nothing that will affect the game. The 4 pm observation from KBOS has an overcast layer at 9,500 feet. I think this is because of the easterly flow at the coast. Just a few miles inland there are scattered mid-level clouds and northwesterly winds. I flew down to the islands this morning... At 10 am there wasn't a cloud in the sky, but by 1 pm there was a scattered to broken layer of diurnal cumulus at around 5,000 feet. That's what we are still looking at inland. At 2 pm we were seeing some convective activity about 150 miles NW, and the radar is now showing some rain and thunderstorms around Lake Ontario. So it'll be a while before anything gets here, if it doesn't completely run out of steam crossing the Adirondacks.
The wind is east at Boston right now, but it should come around from the southwest later this afternoon. That will be blowing out toward left.

tis sad.
There are better ways of honoring special people than putting them out there where 40,000 people can laugh at them. Not to mention the disrespect it did to the Anthem.
btw: 1-3 first for JB.

The anthem singer could probably make Texas' pitching staff.

It had a to be a special needs deal, but I'm surprised Don and Jerry didn't say something.
I thought it was awful. I get that the intent was good, and putting out special needs patients with the players was great. But singing the anthem? The singer himself couldn't get through it without breaking up laughing, which was just inappropriate for the anthem. Any other song and it doesn't matter.
And people were laughing--the Red Sox players were laughing. Hinske was cracking up. It wasn't in a mean spirited way and I don't blame them, but the whole situation was bad.
Sometimes the Sox just go too far. I thought yesterday's pre-game was obnoxious too. Roush Racing is not and will never be "New England's newest hometeam team," no matter what Don Orsillo is forced to read.

Disappointed.
As bad as the pitching is, this offense is driving me crazy. We need another bat. That's the most pressing need on this team at this point.
Of course, it would be good if the bats we had started producing. Sammy Sosa has more homeruns than David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez.

Outfield. Or move Lowell and move Youkilis to 3rd, and play my theoretical new bat at firstbase--if it was a good enough bat.
At some point, you can't assume your aging bats are going to wake up.
Ralpho316
Jun 30 2007, 08:38 PM
Dunn would cost too much, Texiera is hurt, I dunno who else you would get for 1B. I think Ortiz and Manny need to wake up a bit, Ortiz is starting to worry me.
Drew doing something would be fantastic too

WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THAT??? Now Lugo can't even steal 3rd. But why send him in that situation? You don't make the last out of an inning at 3rd!!
Total stupidity.

Jesus. I must be the only person in this thread. I can't believe Lugo got thrown out at third and nobody even said anything.

Jun 30 2007, 09:13 PM
Obviously it was Lugo's fault since there was no need for that, but why would Youkilis let their catcher throw so comfortable, ducking?
