Royal Rooters > THE COOLER > ROYAL ROOTERS ARCHIVES > 2007 REGULAR SEASON GAME THREADS

Game time: 7:05 pm

Scheduled Starters: Brain Bannister (5-5, 3.71) v. Kason Gabbard (2-0, 4.87)

The game will be on NESN.

Boston weather:

6 pm observation at KBOS: Wind out of the east at 9 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 8,000 feet, scattered clouds at 12,000 and 25,000 feet, temperature 73F, DP 57W.

Forecast: It will be a nice night for baseball, with temperatures in the 70's and lower humidity than yesterday. The wind is out of the east at KBOS, but it is out of the southwest at KBED and KOWD, and I expect it to be out of the west or southwest during the game. The winds will be light, though, so this won't be a repeat of yesterday.

I don't get it.

Why is Drew leading of tonight? Coco has been great at lead off lately.

Drew is horrible!!! I understand we are stuck with him, but hit him 8th!

I like Mark Teahen a lot, that'd be fantastic if KC was like "Hey Boston, WMP for Teahen" and we let Lowell walk

The same Mark Teahen who "made a conscious effort to stop" his streak of striking out in 22 straight games? Anybody who needs to "make a conscious effort to stop" a streak like that belongs in KC.

Don't blink, or else this game will be over.

Good pitching dual so far. Our first runner is Lugo on an infield hit with two out in the third, although replays show he should have been ruled out.
ivebeentruped
Meh, karma for Lugo...
dtkendrick
Freakin Lugo gets picked off!!
Bosredsox5
Picked off? Does that even happen anymore?

If you are Julio Lugo, apparently you can make it happen

The salami bats are out in force.

Serious question: at what point do we have to start holding our advanced scouting accountable for our complete and utter failure against newbie pitchers? I mean, 6IP, 3-4ER outings are one thing, but we are being owned by the likes of Fierabend, Litsch, DiNardo, now Bannister. There has to be something to this, doesn't it? It just seems like they aren't prepared.
dtkendrick
Pedroia seems comfortable against him. Maybe let the PawSox play the newbies?
ivebeentruped
Line shot to the monster seats by Pedroia... 1-0 Sox.

We'd need advanced scouting on DiNardo why? So we know what he throws and how he goes after hitters?

Pitchers have always had an advantage in situations where they haven't faced the hitters. It's not just us.

<3 Manny and PEDROIAAAA

ivebeentruped
That's more like it.

I'm watching on mlb.tv, and I saw the score flash on ESPN that it was 2-0, right before that pitch...
dtkendrick
Nice bombs by Pedroia and Manny. Hopefully Gabbard will realize he is pitching against the triple A Royals tonight.
Ralpho316
A-Rod right now is carrying the Yankees and is on the best contract yaer ever
dtkendrick
Quick moving game so far, knock on wood.

Josh Towers Sucks, Thanks dude!

Gabbard has a nice little 2 hitter through 7. Please no Joel Pineiro!!
Bosredsox5
It's only the Royals, but Kason Gabbard has been great tonight. Only 84 pitches, he may... go... all... the... way!
Ralpho316
If only the Jays could muster something against the immortal Kei Igawa, this could be a doubley amazing night

Thanks for listening Joe! I LOVE YOU SCOTT PROCTOLOGIST.

This may be the dumbest post ever and I swear I'm not being sarcastic.

I always thought it was a "pitching duel", however "dual" makes since becase you're saying they are both pitching well... which is it?
Bosredsox5
Wow, quick 8th, I see no reason to dip into the pen for the 9th... maybe have someone warm... but I think this looks like a CG.

It would be duel. 'Pitching duel' suggests that there are pitchers battling each other while 'Pitching dual' suggests there are two pitchers.

That would make every game a pitching dual.
Ralpho316
Very impressive, dont care if its the Royals
Bosredsox5
WOW

What a game by Gabbard. CG, 8 K's (including the last two batters), 15 ground outs to 4 fly outs, only 107 pitches, 1 walk and 3 hits allowed... and he lowered his ERA like 60 points.

I know it's just the Royals... but Gabbard just pitched one hell of a game.
matty2578
Kason Gabbard - what a performance tonight. warren.gif
dtkendrick
Nice win for the SOx. I am especially pleased with Gabbard, Thank goodness Francona didnt mess with him and decide to go to the pen.
Ralpho316
If only Josh Towers could be Kason Gabbard-esque tonight

Indeed, awesome job tongue.gif

I know it's only the Royals but that's also only the second shutout a Sox pitcher has thrown all year. Very impressive start from Gabbard who is a rookie this year, hopefully he can maintain this level of performance and develop into a regular starter. I like Beckett, Papelbon, and this side of Gabbard for the future.
