Game Time: 3:55 pm

Scheduled starters: Tim Wakefield (15-10, 4.35) v. Mark Buehrle (9-8, 3.42)

The game will be on FOX.

Chicago weather:

1 pm CDT/2 pm EDT observation at KORD:

Wind out of the north at 9 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 2,800 feet, broken clouds at 3,700 feet, temperature 76F, DP 61F

Forecast:

With frontal passage early this morning and an associated outflow boundary, the convection has moved to the south, and it should be a decent afternoon in Chicago, with some clouds and sun and winds out of the northeast at less than 10 mph. That is blowing across from left to right. It's going to be cool - in the mid 70s...
samba guy
I'm interested to see the lineup for this one. Kielty has the most at-bats against Buehrle and kills him with a .370 avg. And Cash bats LH, so I wonder what change Tito'll make.

Correction: Cash bats RH. I was thinking of Kottaras.
BigSlick
I would like to take this opportunity to once again say "Kiss My Butt" to Bud Selig, FOX, and anyone else in on the decision that in spite of my paying for EI that I can't watch the Sox today.

I'll never understand why they don't give us the alternate FOX broadcasts with EI. I could be watching FOX and their advertisers today but now I won't be.

Same here, and I'm pretty f&^king pissed, too. Why can't the f^&king Mets (whom I otherwise like) be on SNY or TBS???

EDIT: WTF????? The game is blacked out for me on MLB.tv, too?! WTF?
Preacher
I'm in Illinois and I'm not getting the sox/sox game. WTF?
MrNewEngland
Why Cora? Just to make sure Buerle faces a sh!tty lefty?
DesertDirtDog
I'm sure if Bud had his way we'd be watching the slide show of his fly fishing trip to Montana.
Preacher
For those with mlb.tv that can't get the game on Fox, the following proxy is working for me:

213.216.199.52 port: 80

IE -> tools -> options -> LAN settings. Then, you can watch the game in IE, but I guess not on Mosaic.

Do you use Firefox? If so go to:

Tools ---> Options ---> Advances ---> Network ---> Settings

From there select "Manual Proxy Configuration" and enter the IP in the first box, the Port in the second, then click Apply. Then go back to MLB Gameday and use it as you normally would.

I'll see what I can do...
Jack Hayden
It's fun watching Waker pitch when he's on. Score some runs so he gets victory number 16.
BillyJo
Everybody hits here, let's keep the line moving!

I guess what they put in this half inning is enough for the whole night.

wink.gif I feel I let you down leaving the bases loaded!

I love the Manny flip of the ball after the catch! Good times!
BillyJo
Thanks for the numbers, Preacher. It's been running since the bottom of the 6th.
Curll
This is a fun chainsaw!
MFLetou
How does Ozzie still have a job? The White Sox look like they've totally mailed it in.
Jack Hayden
Ozzie may be on the hot seat after this year. Mercy rule for this game?
MFLetou
And in the midst of this...WTF is Cora doing?
BillyJo
Did Owens just prevent a home run? It looked like he did.

I like these games when the late innings are stress-free. We've had quite a few of them this week.
MFLetou
We are probably not far away from seeing Juan Uribe or something pitch.
Jack Hayden
Sweet! I wanna see Uribe pitch!
nick898
Did anyone else know that Kevin Cash almost retired from the game of baseball because his daughter is going to have open heart surgery at the end of the season? They just mentioned it on TV. I had no clue.
MFLetou
Me neither...you'd think the Boston media would be all over a story like that.

The beat goes on...

Other than the Yankees, I hate the White Sox the most of any AL team, so....this is really quite pleasant.

At this point, the White Sox look terrible - and even the announcers are talking about the Yankee-Red Sox matchups next week. I have to say though, having not seen the White Sox much, their relievers don't seem to know how to throw a strike; if this were our boys, man, yikes.
MFLetou
Awesome AB for Drew.
BillyJo
This game was SORT OF on the line in the last of the 7th. This is almost becoming Texas-Baltimore!

And nice to see Drew do his thing. unsure.gif

Terrific. You can always rely on Drew to end a long and boring inning. rolleyes.gif

Any chance we can get Michael Vick to implicate JD Drew?

Yeah, DAMN JD DREW FOR NOT CARRYING THE MOMENTUM! 13-0 in the 8th is still anyones game.

It has nothing to do with momentum or this particular at bat. It's nearly every single at bat he's had this year and the fact that we are stuck watching this bum for the next several years.
nick898
Does anyone else know why Kyle Snyder hasn't gotten more spot starts this season? Tavarez has been their go to guy this year and I'm not really complaining about it. They've both done good jobs overall but I remember Snyder did a good job at the end of the season last year as a starter. I'd think he would have more spot starts. I don't even think he has started a game this year.

And as I write this...he gives up the two run homerun.

It's great when you get a quick answer like that, isn't it?! wink.gif
MFLetou
They DID NOT channel Hawk for the HR call. Damn Fox.

Look--obviously not a key AB for Drew, but I'm not a fan of watching any of our guys in any situation go golfing on three straight pitches in the dirt--especially if they are trying to turn it around against a crap pitcher. Drew's been probably the biggest Red Sox bust since Jack Clark.
samba guy
Let's get an insurance run so Gagne can come in!
nick898
The more I watch Mike Lowell...the more I admire how this guy plays the game. He's a smart and professional player and he plays the game right. Lowell and Okajima have been our unsung heroes this year without doubt.
amanuel777
Did I say these announcers suck?!

"...As we go to the bottom of the 9th, the Sox are looking for 12 to tie it." Why even say that? Was that supposed to be irony?

He was being sarcastic. Matt Vasgersian is a really good announcer. This duo is roughly 600x better than Buck and McCarver.
GreenBud
Nancy Drew and Joel Pineiro are fine examples of how bad the NL is.

They got it right though because the game is in Chicago. If you're on the road you play for the win, if you're home you play for the tie. laugh.gif
Caspir
Off to watch the Yankees. Keep doing what you've been doing Hughes. You know, sucking.

If anyone wants to watch, the Yankee game is free on MLB TV.
