Ellsbury in the one spot & Pedroia in the two hole......nothing else that Tito has come out with since Sunday's game has made sense.

I can't help but wonder if the Sox are worried about TV ratings the final weeks of the season if they clinch to early & thus these lineups they're coming out with.

Just look at the bottom of tonight's lineup:

6. Bobby Kielty, LF
7. J.D. Drew, RF
8. Coco Crisp, CF
9. Doug Mirabelli, C

I know it's Balti but geesh, why not put the best lineup out there for the next couple of weeks until it's all clinched up & then give guys time off!

Edit: stupid engrish

Obviously it's because Ellsbury is not a proven vet. rolleyes.gif

Wow is Camden empty or what? Too bad those pesky sox fans aren't there to boost the revenue.

Wake doesn't have it tonight.
Bob R
I guess I missed the memo.

Just why, are the Orioles wearing throwback "Black Sox" uniforms???

Leephus Pitch
Wake REALLY doesn't have it tonight.
Gonna be a long night for the 'pen.
mish1231
Something about paying homage to some team, I guess I wasnt paying attention either.
Leephus Pitch
Has there ever--EVER--been a more feckless, weak and useless hitter than JD Drew??

Why does a 23 year old who's been on fire need a night off? JD should be on the bench.

Same reason a 23-year old second baseman who's also on fire needed a "rest" last night, I guess.
mish1231
Oh boy, Mirabelli still hurting
Leephus Pitch
Wow, is this a bad baseball team we're playing tonight.
MFLetou
That has to be the cheapest RBI of David Ortiz's career.

Really the pitcher's fault on both plays, compounded by Millar.

Man, I thought Lowell had one there.

Yes. Well, when the Orioles broadcaster says "18 HR...make that..." you do sort of expect the next word to be "19," not "nope."

Leephus Pitch
As I said, Wakefield has NOTHING tonight.
rominer
And then they call that one like it's a routine fly ball. Time for some new glasses, Gary.

True pitchers duel tonight.
MFLetou
I figured Wakefield's injury would put him on a downward spiral for the rest of the year.

Also, Pedroia's day off last night probably will cool him down. Good move. And its a good thing we're sitting Ellsbury tonight, don't want him getting too hot.

"Dustin's a good player, but so is AC"

"We try so hard to get AC at-bats"

Theo needs to lay down the hammer in the off-season and take away Tito's pet toy. The White Sox would love Cora.

Ellsbury hitting .563 and Pedroia at .519 over the past week made winning that much easier.

You gotta hand it to Tito, he loves a challenge?

BamaBoSox
My oh my, do I love Papi...
Leephus Pitch
Me too, but seriously? This does not look like a team that will play deep into October.
Ralpho316
JD Drew is a disgrace, Cherry has an ERA in the 10's
TommyK8
It's hard to believe that Drew makes more money than David Ortiz.

Why because Manny has been terrible tonight?

Why because Wakefield is totally healthy and has not missed a start yet?

Why because Papelbon is awful, as is Beckett, Ortiz, etc?

WHY?
samba guy
Buchholz in is a bad move.
SFFM38
WHY??? Why put him in?? he just did 115 pitches a few days ago?? ( which he has never pitched that high )

Because Francona is an awsome manager.
TommyK8
Nice job regrouping, Clay.

We dodged a bullet there.
SFFM38
Man, that was close.. 25 pitches for Clay... Over / Under for Drew to be able to hit off Jim Hoey with an ERA of 12.41
Ralpho316
Jim Hoey and Rocky Cherry have ERA's that combine to like 23 or something, thats a disgrace if we cant hit them

That's why we don't look like a team that will play deep into next month.
That and about 5 other reasons, one of whom is the idiot on the bench.

And Buchholz is back out there. Very questionable.
SFFM38
WOW! Clay is still looking good, so in a week he has pitched more then 150 actually close to 160 WOW!

I think after Clay retires the first batters he gets a lot better. Maybe they are finding out if he can be useful in the postseason or not. It's a little late now for that in my opinion, but they are the ones making the decisions anyway.
Ralpho316
Have you seen the other teams going to October? They arent flawless, I will take our pitching and our team over theres.

I love Ortiz trying to bunt to get on, he really is a smart dude.

Ralpho316
Manny needs to get the **** back, his back hasta be good by now, its been like a week. I am not calling him out like last year, but come on bud
ivebeentruped
Oh please oh please oh please JD, don't suck. Just this once...

Edit: @#$T#%@$%
Ralpho316
I have no words for JD Drew right now. Francona should have pinch hit Drew and not Kielty
