Game time: 1:35 pm EDT
Scheduled starters: Josh Beckett (17-6, 3.30) v. Jeremy Guthrie (7-5, 3.65)
The game will be on NESN.
Baltimore weather: Noon observation at KBWI: wind variable at 5 mph, visibility 10 miles few clouds at 2,500 feet, scattered clouds at 15,000 feet, broken clouds at 25,000 feet, temperature 82F, DP 62F
Forecast: A weakening high is moving off the coast, and a cold front is approaching from the north. Throw into the mix the moisture from Gabrielle's outer bands... But that won't affect the Baltimore area until the game is over. There may be more high clouds during the afternoon, but no rain. The wind will come around from the south, which is blowing out toward left, but at less than 10 mph, at least until late afternoon. It's going to get into the 90F range, and it'll be humid...

The scheduling geniuses at MLB strike again. Let's see, opening day with the Patriots, or an afternoon game against the Orioles? Tough call. I didn't even now they were playing.

Better sack up and win this. The Yanks have 9 left with Balt/TB and with Bedard and Guthrie out, I can see them winning at least 8 if not all. Gotta win this game.

I welcome those who watched the Patriots kick some tail with the note that if we don't pull this mofoing game out, we're looking at a 4.5 game lead.
Folks, we need to beat Baltimore here. Like, this is important. i'm totally not into this because of football, but...

Well, I'm a Democrat who sometimes votes for Republicans (LONG story, but it's probably more suitable for PI).
I grew up in central CT in the late 80's, early 90's. You were either a Giants fan or a fan of whomever the Giants were playing. I decided to root for Bubby Brister and the Steelers.
I said I only rooted for the Jets twice a year, meaning when they play the Pats. (truth be told, I didn't even realize they were playing today until about 3:30)
Three more outs...
