Game time: 7:05 pm EDT
Scheduled starters: Edwin Jackson (4-14, 6.00) v. Jon Lester (4-0, 4.47)
The game will be on NESN.
Boston weather: 4 pm observation at KBOS: wind out of the west at 15 mph, with gusts to 21 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 6,000 feet, temperature 74F, DP 45F
Forecast: High pressure is building over the area, and will dominate our weather for the next couple of days. The winds will die down this evening, and it will be a pleasant, but cool, evening. The winds should be less than 10 mph, and out of the west, which is blowing out. It could get into the mid-60s in the city; with clear skies and light winds, there'll be radiational cooling, and it could get into the 40s just west of Boston. So bring a sweater for the ride home!

Time to take the rubber match of this series. Let's make it a less interesting win than last night. How 'bout some early run support and a continuation of recent form for Jon Lester. We've alos got Okajima and Papelbon rested and ready in the pen.
Go Sox!

No Lowell or Ellsbury. Lowell getting the night off after 4 hits last night with an off day tomorrow. Enough with the rest, Tito. Also notice the LF-journalism at its finest.

No need to sit down Lowell with tomorrow off. Tito can be so frustrating sometimes, correction, all the time.

Yeah, apparently Lowell has a case of possible food poisoning. The two days off will definitely help then. To compensate Tito just stacked a ton of lefties against Jackson.

Tito tells us more than we need to know:
``He doesn't know if was something he ate but he's got activity from both ends,'' said the manager. ``He's not feeling too well. He texted me early this morning and kind of said, `Hey, this is what's going on.' You know Mike, he wants to try to get in there but that, to me, makes no sense. I know he's a great player but we have a day off tomorrow. If he plays today and then goes back three days, that doesn't make a lot of sense. Let the trainers work on him, maybe he gets an IV, whatever they deem appropriate. Let him get it out of his system and be okay Friday.''

And like always people bitch about Tito even though they have no clue whats going on. Can we all just keep in mind for the future that the coaching staff might have a better idea of whats going on with a player's health and status than you sitting at your computer? Thanks.

Why react when you can overreact?
Meanwhile, Mike Lowell seems to have himself a quandary here:
"If I eat my Wheaties, I'll have a 4-hit night. But I'll also have a 4-sh*t morning the next day. Do I eat the Wheaties again?"

I find it hard to believe that at one point, everyone thought Lester was a top-line/ace starter. I could be wrong but from what I've seen, he looks like a below-average pitcher whose ceiling may hit #3 material.

Well, we have to remember that he's coming off cancer.
However, he has always had control problems--even before he developed the disease(of course, who knows exactly when the Big C began affecting him).
I really wish Buchholz weren;'t on a damned innings count.

He's still to young to get a good read on how good he can be. That said I am not high on him either but maybe with some better control he can become solid number three or more. In the past he has worked out of trouble which says something but he gets into trouble too often. Control, control, control.
