Game time: 2:05 pm EDT

Scheduled starters: Matt Garza (4-7, 3.92) v. Julian Tavarez (7-10, 5.06)

The game will be on NESN.

Boston weather: Noon observation at KBOS: wind out of the east at 10 mph, visibility 10 miles, broken clouds at 4,300 feet and 20,000 feet, temperature 63F, DP 47F.

Forecast: The area is dominated by a high off the coast, but a strong northwest flow is causing the high cloud cover. If that clears a bit, we should see 70F this afternoon; if not, it'll stay in the 60s. There's a strong easterly flow, so the wind will be blowing in, but the winds will stay around 10-12 mph.

Before the first game of the season, I made a bet with a Yankee fan. The supporter of the second place team at the end of the season would owe the supporter of the first place team one beer for every game separating the two. I'm now guaranteed to win two beers, but could have as many as four. I, therefore, have a great deal riding on this game. Let's win for the sake of good beer!

Surprisingly serious line-up. And Drew, the guy who needs an interruption the least, sits. Go figure...
RedSoxAnni
I predict this lineup won't last through the fifth inning. Maybe a tuneup...

Good thing this game does not really matter/

I know, I don't care that we are losing. We have everything locked up!

Remy's hilarious right now.
MFLetou
For a minute I thought Remy was drunk. I had the volume down until the wild pitch.

This is absolutely hilarious. Is he trying to make fun of the ChiSox guys?

They declared this to be the homer inning.
MFLetou
I know, and I take that to be a not so subtle dig at certain other announcers...looking at you, Hawk....
RyanB06
Beat me to it.

So Gagne has pitched well the last few weeks of the season and even though Okajima ran into trouble last night he did get out of the inning without giving up a run. I think Gagne is starting to earn my trust back. It's good to finally see. Same with JD Drew.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Sox pitching has retired 22 in a row. I'd suggest winning to end the season. It feels better than losing. There may not be any starters left, but we can still do this. I've got a beer riding on it.

FWIW...The Mets are toast... makes me smile smile.gif

Sox have bases loaded, 1 out, Kielty coming up. Where's JD?Dougie goes deep???

Uh, no. A beer says he Ks.

update: I'll take a Wachusett Octoberfest, thank you.
DesertDirtDog
Why is Beli swinging for the fence??? all we needed was a base hit................ argh
SoxAroundTheWorld
Guess not. Guess I didn't need that extra beer. See ya Wednesday!
SFFM38
****ing Joe Nathan, I would rather to face against Mariano Rivera! UGH... All I hope is this "bases loaded" issues wont be carrying over into postseason!
MFLetou
Well presumably we wouldn't have Bobby Kielty and Doug Mirabelli batting back to back with the bases loaded in the postseason. If we do, Tito should just resign now and get it over with.

What killed us that inning was the Ellsbury brain cramp to make the first out.
