Game time: 8 pm EDT (first pitch around 8:30)

Schedule: Ubaldo Jimenez (0-0, 1.59) v. Curt Schilling (2-0, 3.38)

The game will be on FOX, WRKO, and ESPN Radio

Boston weather: 2 pm observation at KBOS: Wind out of the northeast at 10 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 3,500 feet, broken clouds at 10,000 feet, temperature 55F, DP 43F.

Forecast: Brrrrr..... The last patch of rain is moving off the coast, and high pressure is building in New England. The broken layer is gone over central Mass.; it was clear in Worcester at 1 pm and the clearing line is moving east. It's going to be a mostly clear and cool evening, with temperatures possibly dipping into the 40s before the game is over. The winds will remain north to northeast at less than 10 mph. That's blowing in from left, across toward first.

Schill is perhaps the best pitcher in the league and yet his age worries me everytime he takes the mound.
BamaBoSox
He only worries you because you're an Auburn fan. It's in your blood to worry. Schill will have no problem whatsoever buzzing through the Colorado lineup.

Nah. I'm just kidding. Good to have another kindred spirit, at least in conference, on here.

Yes I believe I share an AU website with you..... wincrimson? aunation.net?
SoSHnubbed
My uninformed opinion:

This game will hinge on Ubaldo Jimenez more so than Schilling. I don't buy his postseason success - two starts against lackluster postseason opposition, an average of 5 2/3 innings in those starts, with only three more strikeouts (11) than walks (8). This kid is going to get lit up. As long as Schill keeps the Rox to 5 runs or less, I think the Sox walk away with this one.

Let's go Sox! I'm doing my best out here in Wolverine country to rally the local Sox fans - here's to a W in game two!

Tide and Tigers aside, GO SOX!

Too bad we have Schilling going tonight, if not we could have a 2-0 lead going to Colorado. Oh well, we will have to settle for 1-1 and expect not much burn from our relievers.

Again, reverse mojo. Don't jump down his throat...yadda yadda yadda

Were going to walk the park on Jimenez. He is going to panic and start to throw his 100MPH fastball down the heart of the plate. Another lumber party for Boston.

Seventh man in is how you show you care!

This is the game I thought the Sox bats would explode. Lets hope I was correct.

A win tonight gives me my right to start talking shit about a sweep. I need that right.
SoxAroundTheWorld
I am very confident about this game - but not confident enough to sleep through it. Going to bed now, back sometime in the 1st inning.

Schill and the Sox should sweep the other leg of the Rockettes tonight.

That better be some kind of reverse mojo or something.

Fake Edit: Note to Barstaff, I know, but I am NOT going to stop questioning it until it stops working.

Let's go boys. It's time to break the Curse of Curt Leskanic.

Hmm, I kinda liked the batting order last night better.
Yaz888
I look for vintage Schilling tonight. I think Curt has a hard-on (Harden?) from all of the run that Beckett's been getting. Let us not forget that G38 had a near no hitter this year.

There has been a lot of talk that she's on the downhill slope, but tonight further solidifes Curt's post-season legacy. The strike zone can not possibly be smaller than last night's. I look for domination and a 2-0 Sox lead.

I was wondering about the Lugo-Ellsbury swap, too.

I like having Jacoby bat ninth. Then, after the first round, you've got Ellsbury, Pedroia, Youk, Papi, Manny, Lowell, etc.

Can Byrnes go get on a surfboard or something? Jesus.

PS...Can we get over the NL field crap? Doesn't that mean the Rockies lose a hitter too? Criminy.

send him to southy and we'll sought him out, cut his leg rope, drop in, like right on top of him, yell "shark" constantly, it would be fun

Eric Byrnes is a jerkoff. He's the master of the Sportcenter dive. Every move he makes on the ballfield, he usually flops to the ground just for the camera. The ball's coming in a shoulder height? dive for it. Throw to the plate from medium left? fall down on the fallow through. Close play at first? Dive headfirst at the bag. It's fitting the D-backs season ended with him sliding face first across the bag. We get it, Eric. You try superhard on every play. Mr 110%
He's a big goddam ham. Naturally, he fits right in at FOX Sports.
I'm surprised he didn't dive to the ground from the announcers table to underscore his point just then. I'm half inclined to bet that he does before the night is over.

Strike zone didn't look that small when Beckett struck out the side in the first inning. dunno.gif

As far as the Ellsbury/Lugo swap...I don't suppose the hand that the pitcher throws with has anything to do with that.

(By "don't" I mean "do")

I can't add to that.. Well done.

And your sig line is dead on.

Unburdened of their history, the Boston Red Sox are in another World Series with Manny Ramirez in left field. Manny's unburdened of everything, hitting .400 in the postseason, and sharing his secret knowledge with the wider world, which is as blind and deaf to genius as it ever was.- -- Charles Pierce, Slate.com

Out here in the midwest as well...got a bunch of Minneapolis Sox fans watching on the big screen, beer flowing and ready to cheer on the big lug. If Schill can hold the fort down and have a respectable outing, I think the offense is grooved and will back some run support. I too, don't buy Jimenez's post-season success. The Diamondbacks were by no means a strong offensive team, and last night the Sox showed what can happen when the lineup heats up.

I liked Ellsbury in the 9 hole; potential back to back to back with him, D-Ped and Youk, and that's before you even get to the Big 3.

I'm not too fond of the comedy show at third base but they got out of it with only one run.
