Despite the idiotic reports to the contrary, Scott Boras just nailed down the richest contract in sports history. So while you're "hahaha'ing" at him, he's counting his money, and hahaha'ing at you. Difference is, his hahaha's come from a Beverly Hills mansion, and yours don't.

He's getting his client ~ 27.5 million dollars at least guaranteed at age 42! While I guess Boras gets some egg in his face since the yanks FO shut him out of the process to some extent, how anyone thinks Boras ultimately ending up orchestrating the biggest deal in sports history (again) as anything but a huge success is beyond me. By setting the bar so artificially high ($350 million), he made the Yankees and others think somehow they're getting a steal of a deal at $275 million for a guy who will be 33 next year.

Not to mention salvaging A-Rod's image AND allowing the Yankees a back-door in the process.

Anyone who doesn't think that Boras engineered this whole thing (I highly, highly doubt the "A-Rod came to us through a third party" crapola) may be deluding themselves.

Boras scored a masterstroke here. A-Rod may actually be cheered at Yankee Stadium now; he may even be a True Yankee now!

...and Yankee fans will be ready to turn on Mr. April at a moment's notice if he starts out his 2008 April (at a cost of $4.583M) the way he hit in the 2007 postseason...

Rogers is at the end of his career and doesn't need to worry about protecting his interests. He probably figures he can make more by not having to pay for an agent, let alone Scott Boras.
