This may not merit its own thread but I didn't know where else to put it:

Other than his disappointing/injury-filled time here, the only memory I'll have of Matt was seeing him underneath the stands before a game at Wrigley in 2005. I don't know what he was doing or where he was going, but he was hurrying along pretty good with some guy who was obviously a member of the RS org.

Overall, tough not to look at Matt's time here as anything other than a disappointment. But he had a nice 3.5 month run to open the contract...so...I guess that's cool. I suppose.

Peace out, Clement.

Globe: Sports Log - Clement fails in comeback, released

The St. Louis Cardinals conceded the Matt Clement signing was a failed gamble, releasing the righthander who has struggled to return from shoulder surgery in 2006.

...

Clement, 33, was pitching for the team's Triple A affiliate in Memphis, going 1-0 with a 4.61 ERA in 12 games. Clement, an All-Star in 2005 with the Red Sox, did not make a start, totaling 13 2/3 innings, and had allowed three home runs.

When did we trade for Matt Clement?

If he does decide to hang it up after this, it's a shame his comeback wasn't more successful. Obviously he seemed to get unglued on the mound at times – but he was always a no-excuses guy after the fact. He took all the blame when he pitched poorly. To a fault, as it turns out...
