The Indians have sold the naming rights to an auto insurance company:

Indians' home will be 'Progressive Field'

That's an awful name. Sounds like some sh*tty college indie band or some 80's hardcore punk band.

"Dude, back in the day I saw Progressive Field open up for Minor Threat. It was pretty awesome."

A sad day indeed. But inevitable. Do you think Sox ownership would ever sell out Fenway to corporate interests? John Hancock Field? TDBankNorth Park? Sausage King Stadium? It'd probably be worth double what any other naming rights deal has commanded.

More likely that the Sox will keep selling naming rights to seating areas and perhaps entraces and concourses.

Even if they did it wouldn't matter. Nobody would call it anything other than Fenway anyway. Just like nobody calls the LF foul pole "Fisk's Pole". They can make any official changes they want, but it doesn't mean the public will use it. I think the farthest they would go would be to rename the field, but not the park. Something along the lines of "Comcast Field at Fenway Park"

Was "Jacobs Field" so iconic a name in just ten years? C'mon get over it people.

Are they going to call it "the Prog"?

It's a good park, very cheap and tall beers.

I was at that show!

Huh...what do you know? The WAG still exists.

They can call that park in Cleveland anything the hell they want, and it will still be less gay than "U.S. Cellular Field."
