Cleveland minor leaguer Randy Newsom’s attempt to sell shares of his salary met a legal obstacle from the Securities and Exchange Commission and was, or will be soon, shut down, said one baseball insider. Newsom, a Tufts graduate and former Red Sox [team stats] farmhand who was sent to the Indians in the Coco Crisp [stats] deal, had allowed public shareholders to invest in 4 percent of his future earnings.
