This is a terrible story, and I've seen some interesting things on the internet about it.

The official word is that it was a suicide, but there appears to be significant reason to question that. Its hard to imagine a civic-minded father of three killing himself. It might sound crass, but for the sake of Bob Ryan and his family, I actually hope he did not take his own life, even if he was the victim of some kind of terrible murder.
