How much will tickets be in this new park?

Before giving the first media tour of the new Yankee Stadium today, Yankees COO Lonn Trost revealed the price tag will be $1.3 billion and not $800 million as originally estimated. The Yankees are paying for their new home, on schedule for the 2009 opener. Trost said the higher cost is due to about $200 million in concession areas (which the Yankees were originally undecided about building or contracting out) and $300 million in added amenities.

Doesn't matter how much the stadium is going to cost. Its going to be a gold mine with those luxury boxes. Never underestimate the amount of corparate dollars that will be flowing into the new toilet and buying those boxes and field box seats(or whatever they're called down there).

Also if they decided to go the concessions route themselves it's an even larger goldmine. It doesn't say, but it seems like they built the concessions areas. Does this mean the Yankees decided to keep it in house?

Either that or they signed a fairly lucrative deal with somone to manage it for them. However they handled it, I'd bet they will be getting a good percentage of the net dollars.

HA!
A Sox fan puts 'curse' on new Yankee Stadium:

A devilish Boston fan working on a concrete crew at the $1.3 billion stadium covertly buried a Red Sox T-shirt under what will become the visiting team's locker room to jinx the Yanks, two construction workers told The Post yesterday.

In August, a Red Sox T-shirt was poured in a slab in the visitor's clubhouse. It's the curse of the Yankees," one worker said. "Nobody knows about it. It's in the floors, it's buried."

The workers say they now fear that they unwittingly helped hex their beloved Bronx Bombers.

Unless that tee-shirt can hit 650 home runs, the way Babe Ruth did with the Yankees, then I'm not going to waste any time on it, other than with this post. snooze.gif

A congressional panel tore apart the city of NY and the Yankees for the deal yesterday..

"In the case of the new Yankee Stadium, not only have we found waste and abuse of public dollars subsidizing a project that is for the exclusive benefit of a private entity, the Yankees, but also we have discovered serious questions about the accuracy of certain representations made by the City of New York to the federal government," Kucinich said.

The panel's investigation found "substantial evidence of improprieties and possible fraud by the financial architects of the new Yankee Stadium," he added.

If Vegas were taking odds, I'd put a large wager on 'nothing'.

Let's see, we have:

-AIG,
-Lehman Bros,
-Fannie and Freddie,
-WaMu,
-Morgan Stanley,
-auto industry,
-mortgage industry
-banking industry
-Yank Stadium

Yank stadium is just a pimple on Donkey Kong's arse and while the dems in congress are complaining on one hand about using tax payer $ to build a new stadium in NY, with their other hand they're signing checks in the billions of $ to bail out wallstreet and corporate America.
