Beckett's been scratched from the start. He went out to the mound, threw a few warmup pitches, and then called to Varitek. The training staff and Francona went to the mound, and Beckett left.

Speculation that he was pointing to his rib-cage, but there's nothing official.

Delcarmen is warming; there'll be a delay while he warms up.

Report: Beckett had back spasms after throwing his warmup pitches and slipping on the mound. They don't feel that it is anything serious, and his removal from the game was precautionary.
