Way out of EEI range that I am, I appreciate these interviews. I know Theo is always pretty boiler-plate, but I like to hear him and Tito when I can.

Way out of EEI range that I am, I appreciate these interviews. I know Theo is always pretty boiler-plate, but I like to hear him and Tito when I can.

Going in reverse, last question by Rome was, with the close scrutiny and press in Boston, is he, Theo, "aging in dog years", and how long could he stay in his current job? 30 years and retire from baseball, or would he like to run a corporation, what? Theo said one of his goals is to leave the organization in the best shape possible. Yes, the Sox have won 2 titles, but he had "made a lot of mistakes". Wasn't the answer I was hoping for (leave the org. in as good shape as possible).

Rome, or somebody on his staff, did his homework and asked about the 5 IP, 0 walks, but 105 pitches Weaver threw last night. Is that right? Yes, the Red Sox do grind.

Worried about Papi? No, his track record and he got a late start this year because of the knee surgery. Pitchers were working him over on one side of the plate (inside or outside?), but now he's handling pitches both sides much better.

Manny? He's relaxed on the field and in the clubhouse, and he has matured as a person. Honest!

Hank Stein.'s blusterousness? We try to pay attention to the team 200 miles to the north of them. Boilerplate.

How's he handle the att'n, writers, etc., in Boston? don't pay att'n to them. Fans want success in Oct., so if it means not bringing back a Pedro M., if it's the right thing longer term, do it.

I have the utmost respect for this man.

Edit: On Theo leaving the Sox org. in as best shape as possible, of course I want that. I meant I don't like to hear about the possibility of him leaving any time soon. Bet one of his lieutenants would step up really well, though.

I love listening to Theo's interviews, I try to listen to all that I can. Unfortunate that I missed this, but thanks for posting.
