traded?
Yes, they do that to players who are DFA'd. I learned everything I know from WAU. And no, PTBNL is not Headley, Matt Latos, Corey Luebke or Matt Antonelli.

Its Jim Edmonds obviously guys.

So long Bryan, you will be missed....well not really, but this is a great spot for him

I liked Bryan Corey, but since there aren't 30-man rosters in MLB and 35 year olds don't get options, it was inevitable that we had to say goodbye.

strange, only in that I don't think of SD as a team that needs bullpen help.

obviously he had no future here.

I take it you haven't been following the goings on at 19 Tony Gwynn Drive. If Joe Thatcher
or Glendon Rusch had pitched like they have at Fenway, they'd be hanging from the Zakim bridge.
Not to mention Trevor and his blown saves. It's very possible that Heath Bell could end up
as the closer before the All-Star break.

I actually watch a lot of their games on EI and know all about Hoffman's struggles, but Bryan Corey's not the answer there.
Thatcher to me is a situational, one-batter guy.
Rusch stinks, if he's in the game you're probably behind anyway (or should be).

I guess I was thinking of Bell & Meredith being 2 pretty solid setup guys, which is more than most teams have.

To me this is a curious move by the Padres. They have very little chance of competing to even make the wild card this season and Corey's long term potential based on age and ability is rather limited. Either the PTBNL is pretty blah, or they may be hoping to pump and dump Corey, get him to pitch well for a couple months then trade him to a contending team needing bullpen help.
