Game time: 7:05 pm

Scheduled starters: Josh Beckett (4-2. 3.71) v. Jeremy Guthrie (1-3, 4.32)

The game will be on NESN.

Baltimore weather: 4 pm observation at KBWI: Wind out of the northwest at 9 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 7,000 feet, temperature 71F, DP 40F

Forecast: The ocean storm that brought wind and rain to the area over the last couple days is moving away, and high pressure is building from the west. It will be a calm evening, with some high clouds and light to moderate winds out of the northwest/north. It will be a little cool, but a good night for baseball. The wind will be blowing in from left.

Brad Mills will be managing the games in Baltimore because Francona's mother in law passed away.

That's too bad about Terry's mother in law. I wonder if it was sudden or a long illness.

I am curious to see how he will call the game instead of TF.
Will he be given the second quess or some slack.

Drew tried to make a diving catch and bent his wrist backwards, a la Matsui.

Meanwhile, Beckett is getting shelled.

^^^ Man, when it pours for the Sox it does really ****ing pour.. how long do u think he will be out? 2 weeks?

EDIT: Oh by the way can you imagine if Lugo goes in and play as a RF? Scary Thoughts!

Knowing Drew, he'll probably be out a month.

Beckett is doing horribly, and Coco is hitting over .300. What the hell?

And what the hell is going on with these game threads?
ivebeentruped
Manny Ramirez up with the bases loaded, down 2, none out.

He will either hit a grand slam, or ground into a double play.

Edit: In any case, a helluvan at bat right here.

Edit2: Motherf*cker.
czar
F*ck.

I think people are just kind of bored with some of these games. I don't know why, but even I'm less than excited.

Well, that Manny DP doesn't help. Couldn't have he just K'd?

You couldn't have said "or drop a single into LF," could you?
ivebeentruped
Well, at least I can get the 11 hours of sleep I need tonight...Sigh.

In those last two plays, the Win Expectancy went from 46% to 11%.
samba guy
At least we're only 2 runs behind. We could load the bases again in the next inning.
Leephus Pitch
As long as I've been watching this team(and I go back to 1967), they have an incredibly difficult time scoring with the bases full and no out.
Cambridge
Another scoring threat. Gotta score this time.

As someone who has watched George Sherill many times with the Mariners...

TIME TO KILL.

Quick Sherill story; Last year at opening day, it's a Sox blowout and Sherill is warming in the Pen. My friend Brian and I are sitting right next to the visitors bullpen, so they can hear our conversations when warming up.

Sherill gets up, and Brain says to him "Sherill? That's my mom's name!". He chuckled. A few minutes later, I serenade him with "Oh Sherill", to the tune of "Oh Sherry", and soon most of the section is joining in. He laughed so hard, he had to stop warming up.

So, I like Sherill, but I hope he gets ****ing shelled tonight.

Great story. Wish I was there. Someday I will.

BULLSHIT!
samba guy
Why he got ejected?
ivebeentruped
Ortiz definitely swung. The fact that he's getting angry about this is good.
dtkendrick
I disagree with the call on the swing. Even my dog started whining when Papi called out. Laz Diaz at his finest, in my opinion.
samba guy
The only thing positive about this game is that Ellsbury once again showed he's faster than sound speed when scoring.
