Game time: 1:05 pm PDT, 4:05 pm EDT

Scheduled starters: Jon Lester (3-2, 3.41) v. Joe Blanton (2-6, 3.87)

The game will be on NESN

Oakland weather: 11 am PDT (2 pm EDT) observation at KOAK: wind out of the west at 7 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 1,500 feet, scattered clouds at 5,000 feet, broken layer at 7,500 feet, temperature 60F, DP 45F

Forecast: That upper level low is now right over the Bay Area and it's starting to spin back to the east. It's going to keep things cool and cloudy. There's a chance for some light drizzle, but probably nothing significant.

Laser shot by Ortiz. 1-0

Manny also brought his hitting shoes today. Too bad about the nice play on Pedroia's drive.

Wonder how Mr. Lester's let down game will be.

Here's the Sox lineup:

Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
Dustin Pedroia, 2B
David Ortiz, DH
Manny Ramirez, LF
Mike Lowell, 3B
Kevin Youkilis, 1B
J.D. Drew, RF
Jason Varitek, C
Julio Lugo, SS

Jon Lester, SP

For some reason I can't get the official lineup in the correct format today...
BigSlick
Johnny Vander Meer is safe.

Edit: well, except for being dead.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Nice DP to erase the error. Lester still looks hung over, though. Short leash, please.
Malzone64
The idiots with the horns and the drums are at the game today. If they were there last night, I would have sought them out and throttled them with my bare hands. ph34r.gif
SoxAroundTheWorld
Manny Ramirez, gold glove candidate, strikes again...
Malzone64
This team is maddeningly different between home and the road. Wasn't that way last year. 16-7 home, 16-8 road on this day.

Manny botches a can of corn into a trippple.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Way to give Jon a rest, boys, after a long hard inning...
SoxAroundTheWorld

You know things are bad when Julio Lugo is the reason that inning didn't get a whole lot worse...
BigSlick
I sense a big inning here.
SoxAroundTheWorld
It doesn't hurt that Blanton can't throw strikes this inning. Patience, boys!

Now would be a good time for #499...

Edit: But I'll take a two run single.

No HR, but that'll work!
Malzone64
Foulkie getting Papi on 86 and 87 mph "fastballs". I really hate Oakland...their stadium, the city it's in, their crappy uniforms and team, and the fact that we have so much trouble winning against them.
I think I can even take losing to the Yankees easier, because they spend gazillions of dollars on their team and you can rationalize it.
Malzone64
Why use Timlin in this crap game? Mike has quietly risen in the ranks to probably third most reliable reliever. Again. He does it every year.
