I'm glad Coco is playing tonight, it would have made him appear weak & cowardly if he were sitting this one out. That said, I hope he's wearing extra padding in his 'ol gluteus maximus....and doesn't start a bench clearing once he gets popped (assuming it's not in the area of the head).
Should be a fun one, go get 'em boys!

Crisp ejected, Gomes possibly ejected? Crawford still playing despite throwing sucker-punches. Maddon appears to be in the game still, which is bullshit. He should've been the first guy gone.

Seemed like Coco's hard slide was retaliation for Bartlett blocking the bag. That should have ended it, this was just starting it all over again.

There's gonna be some suspensions out of this. I predict Crisp 8 days, Shields 10 days (Starter rule, misses one start), Gomes 3 days, Crawford 3 days (if they go by TV footage, since the Umps missed em, and that means it likely won't be in the umpire's report) and probably a huge-ass amount of fines as well

I'd say slim. They had their fight, and Lester pitching for 7 innings and saving the bullpen is worth much more than hitting someone with a fastball.

Slim. Why get yourself ejected this early in the game?
Having to watch the Tampa feed and listen to Dwayne Staats and Joe Magraine really, really sucks.
The funny part was listening to Magraine say that he didn't know why Gomes was tossed. Uhm, maybe for punching a guy several times that was being held on the ground. What a cowbell.
How they kept adding to the exaggeration re: Hale's part in the fight was also comical.

For those of us not able to get to a TV to watch the game; what the hell happened? As far as I can tell:
1. Crisp got tossed for charging the mound.
2. Ellsbury got hurt going for a ball...
and now, Manny and Youks are fighting? Huh?
Someone explain that last bit?

1)Coco charged the mound after Shields hit him in the hip, an obvious retaliation for last night's stuff at second.
2)Ellsbury made a great diving catch on which his wrist bend under, just like Matsui's did last year. Xrays are negative.
3)Manny and Youk had to be separated like Billy Martin and Reggie Jackson 31 years ago. No explanation there, apart from my wild guess(above).
If Kobe Bryant and Ray Allen go at it tonight they should quarantine the entire state of Mass.

No one other than Cash, Casey and Timlin did anything during that fight, so if Youks was calling out Manny he should work his way down the line. Jacoby was especially bitch like, watching Coco get jumped by three guys as he sheepishly tugged at Crawford's jersey. I'd rather our $20m All Star slugger not jump into a brawl.

NESN just aired a grainy clip of the Manny vs. Youk blow out.
Whatever Youk said really p*ssed Manny off, he threw a slap/punch (not sure which it was) then pushed Youk down onto the stairs of the dugout.....wasn't pretty. I've never seen Manny blow is cool like that before. Youk must really know his buttons.

That was a mess of a game.
Our bullpen was able to work out of some jams, but it was disconcerting that they were getting into so many in the first place. By my count Tampa only had one fewer base runner than the Sox (16 to 15). Without a couple clutch strikeouts and a lot of un-clutch hitting it could have been a different game.
Injuries are my biggest concern however, and if Manny or Ellsbury are out for any length of time this could get ugly fast. Let's just hope that the hammy and the wrist are looking better in the morning.
