Steve Buckley, Herald - Ex-mates have drive to help ailing former Red Sox pitcher Bill Monbouquette
Former Red Sox [team stats] pitcher Bill Monbouquette has leukemia and needs your help. That’s why his friends and ex-teammates have set up a bone marrow drive today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tufts University’s Cousens Gymnasium on 161 College Ave. in Medford.
“He’s in good spirits, but he’s going to need a bone marrow transplant,” said former Red Sox catcher Gerry Moses, who helped organize the event for Monbouquette, 71, a Medford native who pitched for the Sox from 1958-65.
