RedSoxAnni
Game time: 6:05 pm

Scheduled starters: Daniel Cabrera (5-2, 3.98) v. Josh Beckett (6-4, 4.07)

The game will be on NESN

Boston weather: 4 pm observation at KBOS: Wind out of the south southeast at 7 mph, visibility 6 miles in haze, few clouds at 7,000 feet, temperature 83F, DP 67F

Forecast: The wind is SE at Logan, and temps there have been 10-15 degrees cooler than inland all day. At 4 pm, Bedford and East Milton (Great Blue Hill) were reporting 95F, Norwood reported 96F, and Nashua reported 100F! The wind is W to SW 3-5 miles inland, and the sea breeze is penetrating out to around Allston, so I expect it will be in the mid-80s at Fenway at game time with a light wind out of the southeast to east, which is blowing in. The wind will shift to SW during the game.

The major weather factor is a cold front approaching from the west. The front is just east of Buffalo at 4 pm. A line of strong storms formed ahead of the front earlier today, and the storms associated with that line are moving through northern New England and southern Quebec right now. Another line is moving east, and is in the Rochester/Erie PA area right now. There are some strong storms in that line, but they won't get to Boston until later this evening, most likely after the game is over. The time change to 6 pm is going to keep the game from getting rained on. The line will be in western New England at around 7-8 pm, and could bring some strong thunderstorms. However, the storms will likely weaken as they get to the coast.

Meanwhile, those of you in Litchfield and Berkshire Counties, eastern NY, and Vermont are currently under a tornado watch! So watch out for tornadoes!

It will be in the 80s at game time, and migh

Ellsbury back. Most excellent. We need to get back to completely owning Daniel Cabrera who was 1 - 8 vs. Boston 2005 - 2007.
RedSoxAnni
Well, the wind shifted early, and the seabreeze is gone...

At 5 pm, Boston Logan had the wind out of the south southwest at 14 mph, and the temperature went from 83F to 94 F in one hour. So the wind is blowing out to left now.

While tomatos can be dangerous......

Let's try to put a postive spin on this & get some mojo out of it.

Here's some Fenway tomato mojo:

edit:
Almost forgot some tomato mojo for the C's

To your point, Ellsbury is 5-8 vs. Cabrera this season. Nobody else on the roster has had more than 2 hits off Cabrera this year (2 games played).

What's up with Beckett? He seems to be very "tentative". I wonder if his back might be giving him a problem.

It's nice to see Pedroia get a few base knocks.

The "did you see that catch that Coco made?" joke stopped being funny like 8 years ago, right?

I think so. Just checking.
Jack Hayden
Yes, it actually stopped being funny in 2000. But nothing was funny about the Sox back then.

I wouldn't say nothing. I always thought that spelling "Jimy" with only one "m" was @#$% hilarious.

Where is the JD Drew hatred these days? I thought that he had a gypsy curse placed on him that made him unclutch and not suited to perform well in a big market.

Oh, he's actually very good at baseball? I suppose that matters more than some pop psychology from a hack sportswriter. How odd.

Tito... Please... just once, pull him before 4 runs come in. PLEASE

Banner night for Cora.......

What happened to Delcarmen - I'm following online and it says he threw three pitches but no note about why he left. What's up?
RedSoxAnni
So Okajima kills us again. And NOW he takes him out!

Delcarmen is in now. Must be an error in Game Day.

Yep. Looks like espn.com was doing its best Oki impersonation and f--king up.

Not that it would have mattered, but what was Oki doing in there in the 7th? I suppose it's good had he done this in the 8th we'd have only had 6 outs to score a run.

24Red Sox
anyone losing faith in Oki?

Losing faith in Oki vs. the O's anyway.

Coming into tonight,
vs. O's - 5 ER in 5 Innings
vs. LA - 1 ER in 2.2 Innings pitched

Compare that to all the other team's he's faced in 08' to date:
vs. CLE - 0 ER
vs. DET - 0 ER
vs. KAN - 0 ER
vs. MIN - 0 ER
vs. NYY - 0 ER
vs. OAK - 0 ER
vs. SEA - 0 ER
vs. TOR - 0 ER
vs. TAM - 0 ER
Total - 0.00 ER in 21.2 IP

If it weren't for the O's his stats would be sick (as the kids say).

ESPN splits

edit: JD is dah sicko bombs awya LOVE him Drew longs timed, so awesome is@$!!
