I suppose maybe this is a rhetorical question.

As such...a dead thread is probably the place to go.

Anyhow, they just showed that Coors vented can commercial between innings. I don't think I've ever actually had the sound on for the entire commercial. I'm usually all over the mute button during ad breaks. This time, though, I heard it.

Apparently, the concept of the "vent" is that it lets air in to create a smooth pour.

And then at the end of the commercial, they show "the guys" sitting around drinking from the can.

DOESN'T THAT DEFEAT THE PURPOSE OF THE VENTED CAN?

Sorry. Just had to vent.
Renton
Yeah, I kind of wondered why the hell that would be such a big deal. The only time I drink from a glass/mug is at bars, so it wouldn't do anything for me even if it worked. If you chug every beer you drink, it might be helpful though. I'm not quite that awesome.

Is anyone else's mlb.tv sucking more than usual today?

Nobody drinks Coors Light from a glass. It would be way too embarrassing.

And if you're chugging, isn't it more fun to make the vent in the can yourself?

I just don't get it. Neat invention, though. New Belgium started canning Fat Tire recently. Maybe they can use the vented can. That's definitely a "from a glass" beer. Or at least, definitely not a "from the can" beer.

Drinking Coors light in a can is just as embarrassing. But yeah, a key to the side of your can is better. Lugo comes through. Can we sign him to an extension? F'ing Theo, pull the trigger!

EDIT because of forceful merge: Blarg. Nice effort to dodge the tag, Manny.

But that's embarrassing more in the "everything about my existence is embarrassing" sense. Like, you know, "You think my beer is bad, you should see the carpet my 14 year old girlfriend picked out for my doublewide."

Coors Light in a glass is just drawing attention to the fact that your beer has about as much color as rubbing alcohol.

We should sign Manny's hair to an extension.
Renton
Talking about crap beer makes me want to have a really good one. Perhaps a 1664, if it wasn't so expensive.

Lester is really letting some of his pitches get away from him now, but the first pitch he threw to Jones on 3-2 should have been a K.

TreeRol
I guess the Lowell signing wasn't so bad, huh?

(Note: I wasn't pleased with it. Nor was I pleased with the Varitek signing. Shows what I know.)

They mentioned that it was his second grand slam of the season.

They neglected to mention that last time he hit a grand slam, it immediately followed an intentional walk to Manny Ramirez.

That is how you make them think twice about walking Manny.

He needs to get hot soon.

It would help the team, sure. But also, with no PAPI!!!!!!! in the lineup, he's the one guy guaranteed to get a couple of game thread posts anytime he does anything.

Well, THAT should just about Timlin-proof the lead!

Thank you very much.

JD hit that for two reasons: Timlin. And so Manny could get another crack at keeping his hitting streak going. Manny failed. If Timlin fails...no. We won't even consider that with this lead.
BigSlick
Water!

Nice of the Sox to wrap this one up so quickly with the Celtics starting soon.
TreeRol
Timlin must've been in a hurry to get into the clubhouse to watch the C's. Good job by him.
