Royal Rooters > THE COOLER > ROYAL ROOTERS ARCHIVES > 2008 REGULAR SEASON GAME THREADS
RedSoxAnni
Game time: 7:05 pm

Scheduled starters: Doug Davis (2-3, 3.65) v. Justin Masterson (4-1, 3.00)

The game will be on NESN.

Boston weather: 4 pm observation at KBOS: Wind out of the south at 9 mph, visibility 7 miles, few clouds at 3,500 feet, scattered clouds at 4,500 feet, 23,000 feet overcast, temperature 66F, DP 50F.

However, at 4:20 pm we are having a thunderstorm in Medford. The KBOS ATIS has not issued a special, so maybe it isn't raining there!

Forecast: More of the same. At 4:20 pm there's a line of thunderstorms about 60 miles northwest of Boston, so they should go through before around 6 pm. There are more isolated cells upstream ahead of the front.

It looks like a chance of thunderstorms at least for the early part of the evening. They'll probably play the game, but there could be another delay.

We are in a rain delay, but the rain is clearing out quickly. The sky is clear at Worcester...

The Sox haven't announced the time of the first pitch yet. They are taking the tarp off now.

Update: The game will start at 7:40 pm.

On-field ceremony celebrating 15 years of great commentary from Jerry Remy and 5 years of being a parody of himself.

Did anyone else see Jim Rice macking on Hazel Mae in the background? That was hilarious.
Curll
Okay, lots of Rem Dawg

Still planning on 7:40?

I really hate the Red Sox organization some times. Remy already gets paid money to come to the ballpark and talk about baseball for a living. He doesn't need a new convertable and a giant circlejerk about him like that.

We're becoming even more pompous and self-indulgent than the Yankees.

But if this crap brings in the money that lets them sign players like Beckett and Manny, I can turn the other cheek.

Nice tribute to the Remdog.

btw: Am I alone in thinking that Mrs. Remy is a foxy lady?

Agreed on the cheese-factor being upped in recent years. On the other hand, the new ownership cleans the damn park so that it isn't full of rats, and they've won the world series twice. I'll take that over the park full of rats and being perennial also-rans.

So long as they don't start having some sort of ridiculous facial hair policy and a gasbag owner, I suppose we still have some ground to stand on to rip on Yankee pompousness.

And this team is a heck of a lot of fun to root for. They've got some characters and some guys who can really play.

The game threads continue to suck.

Awesome.

Good comeback by the Sox though.
