The rain has stopped in NY, but there's rain in the area.
Getting thrown out at second was incredibly stupid of Pedroia. Hopefully it doesn't hurt them in the end.
Manny has his pocket hanging out. What a horrible human being and terrible example for children. He should be banned from baseball[/Joe Buck]

Of course he went on his own. Who could signal him to try for second? Greedy little mofo.
Did The Masterpiece take fielding lessons from Julian Tavarez? That submarine job to first was classic.

He looks like a pterodactyl out there with the wingspan. Nice inning.
Yanks are swinging aggressively, A-Rod and Betemit with one pitch ABs sandwiching an actual good AB from Giambi which produced a walk.Hopefully they keep it up so Masterson can go deep.
Terrible play by both Drew and Varitek
JD didn't charge it right away, and Varitek left the ****ing plate to let Giambi slide around him

WTF Tek, block the plate.
JD had the throw there in plenty of time and Tek was even slow in turning to apply the tag.
How did Cora not beat that out?
They didn't show a full replay, but there is NO WAY he was busting it all the way down the line on that.

Varitek usually blocks the plate. He must have been watching Posada film. I don't know what you mean about Drew. He looked to be running full stride when the camera started showing him. The OF grass is slow from all the rain. That helped the ultra-slow Giambi, but it didn't help Pedroia in the first. I guess Masterson does suck against LHHs. Start thinking about bringing back Buchholz.
This does not bode well.

Masterson does the Houdini act, but if you think about how he got the first out (great play by Lowell) and the last out (great play by Pedroia), luck was clearly the deciding factor.
Runs now, please!

Justin continues to get the job done, but it ain't pretty and it ain't comfortable.News flash: Tim McCarver is a terrible baseball announcer.Where are the bats???
Ellsbury seems much more mortal on the base paths lately...
Can we stop ****ing running against Molina? I thought this was a stats-oriented team, Molina has the best CS% in the AL, and has picked off Ellbury three times already this series...cut it out Tito.

So far this game has been by far the least fun to watch, and of course the first one nationally televised. Kee-rist. What happened to Ellsbury's auto-steals?

I just received a call from some pinstriped friends celebrating their one swing lead. To make matters worse, the call came from the first base line inside Yankee Stadium.
Please, Sox bats, make those that have taunted me regret it.

And who would have believed that the Yankees would have a better catcher than the Red Sox when Jose Molina is out there.
Buck and McCarver have been splooging about the great Red Sox young players. Well, let's see some of it today. OK, Pedroia (but a baserunning blunder) and Masterson. Goes to show you that a crafty old pitcher at his best can **** you up completely. Wacky game.

Which one? NYY has let Masterson off the hook more than a couple times. Meanwhile, the Sox bats need desperately to wake up and do it PDQ.
I'm relieved that they took out Mussina after only 89 pitches. Hopefully the Sox can string hits together now.

I mean that was a very pathetic last three at bats, but that's what happens when Mariano Riviera faces three poor hitters. When Ortiz comes back, at least one of those 7-8-9 guys won't bat in that situation.

****ing home plate ump gave it to Rivera on the second strike call (outside) to Coco and the same to Lugo. I hate umps that call it for the superstars (unless they're calling it for my team's). Really, another gutless job by an ump. He was calling those strikes for Rivera with zest, joy and everything else. He should wake up on Mars tomorrow, which, according to my Stats and Probability prof, is possible.

Can't blame the umps for this one. Blame Crisp for swinging like a girl. Blame Tito for not figuring out that Crisp couldn't get the ball out of the infield against Fruit Bat.And blame Lugo, just on general principle.

I told my wife when Youks was up that he was the Sox last good hitter. Rivera did himself a favor hitting him.
