Royal Rooters > THE COOLER > ROYAL ROOTERS ARCHIVES > 2008 REGULAR SEASON GAME THREADS
RedSoxAnni
Game time: 7:05 pm

Scheduled Starters: Brian Burres (6-5, 5.07) v. Clay Buchholz (2-3, 5.53)

The game will be on NESN.

Boston weather: 4 pm observation at KBOS: Wind out of the east at 14 mph with gusts to 25 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 7,000 feet, broken layers at 14,000 and 25,000 feet, temperature 75F, DP 58F

Forecast: High pressure is building over New England, and we should have a good night for baseball. There's a small disturbance left over from some showers that affected western and central NY earlier today, and there is some light rain in west central MA at 4 pm. A lot of it does not appear to be hitting the ground. Boston could get some sprinkles from that this evening, but it won't be anything that will stop the game. There's a seabreeze at KBOS, but if you go 10-15 miles inland the wind is west to southwest. The wind should diminish around sunset and will be out of the southwest for most of the game. That's blowing out toward left.

I think summer vacations are encroaching on our already diminished pool of posters...

I can't remember where I read it (or know where to find such a stat for a minor leaguer) but I remember reading that most of Buchholz troubles come in the 1st inning. That is probably why the FO has never, nor will ever experiment with him in the BP.
Lesbian BoyFriend
That out call on Lugo a few innings back wasn't even CLOSE. Lugo was on the bag and there was still like 5+ feet for the ball to travel before it reached the 1st baseman.
Renton
Anyone else think that more high strikes need to be called? I dont think the waist should be as high as the zone goes, but that's how it seems people are calling it now.

I thought that curve Buchholz threw to Huff should have been a clear strike, but Huff bitched and that K-zone crap said it missed by a mile.
Lesbian BoyFriend
Comeon Clay, you can get out of this, gotta hold em here.Yaaaaaaaaaaa, that a boy Clay. Let's get some runs for the kid.

Regardless of the outcome, I'm glad to see that Manny and Tek seem to have found themselves again, or at least have started in that direction.

Bullpen has done it's job. It is time for the offense to take a move and let out their inner clutch.

Edit: Meanwhile, I'm the only one on this thread...

This site has been dead all year. Very little traffic. Makes me wonder if everyone's complacent or has gone somewhere else.

Can anyone watching explain the circumstance of intentionally walking Luke Scott? What a brain dead move that is...unless he's 10-10 with 10 HRs off of MDC or something. Anyone?

Not our night - Delcarmen you were crap again, congrats.

I don't get it either. Like you said, it should be great splits against the pitcher. Not SSS against the club.

Oh well at least the yanks and rays lost. Hopefully Wake can continue his great pitching.

This team seems to be having a hard time bringing anyone home whenever bases are loaded scenario for this season. drives me CRAZY!
