Justin Sablich, NYT - Murcer Loses His Fight With Cancer

Bobby Murcer, the Yankees outfielder and broadcaster, died on Saturday at age 62. He had been battling brain cancer since being found to have a tumor on Christmas Eve in 2006.


He was asked to do the impossible - replace Mickey Mantle - and he did...

wow ... i had thought i had heard that he was doing better ... apparently i was misinformed

i liked murcer ... bummer

RIP

Murcer made watching Yankee games more than tolerable. He was good at it and once more, he just seemed like a good guy. If Rizzuto wasn't teamed up with him, I probably would have caught a lot more of his games.
