Typical Dice-K start, but at least not a run scored. 20 pitches.
Red Sox Fan2
Nice throw Bynum.I really don't want Drew hitting 6th when Ortiz comes back. At least spot him 5th in the lineup.Terrible.
Malzone64
Oh well, Drew giveth and he taketh away. 1 - 0.
Red Sox Fan2
Varitek threw out a runner? Quick kids, make a wish.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Looks like another typical Dice-K start: tons of pitches, an awful lot of those balls, trouble constantly. I really wonder sometimes what made him so good in Japan.

Of course, getting out of self-made jams without letting runs score might be part of it...

He's got great stuff. When he throws it over, he gets outs, he just seems to be afraid to. I think he needs a mind altering experience. Electroshock is too violent. What else?

Good sex, good drugs, good rock and roll. One of them's gotta work. thumbsup.gif
Malzone64
Great catch by Youks in the wind. Anybody else playing that side of the field? Cora, Manny? huh.gif

Shift had Cora on the wrong side of 2nd. Don't know what Manny's excuse was...

The 4th was typical of Dice-K's problem: 1-2-3 easy inning, but he needed 21 pitches to do it. Ridiculous.
Red Sox Fan2
Damn Cassey you are slow, and out.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Casey should have been called out. Not that I'm complaining...
Red Sox Fan2
No, no please go back. I want to know who is going to spend 3 days in Colorado.

Edit: What is Crisp going to do? Lugo? Lowell? I want to know.
SoxAroundTheWorld
I want to see Jacoby hit an inside the parker. I suspect he could beat both Varitek and Casey to the plate.
Red Sox Fan2
Bynum 2 Orieols 0
SoxAroundTheWorld
Manny hasn't had a salami in a couple years now, no?

Edit: Thanks, Don. Not since July '05. And counting... sad.gif
Red Sox Fan2
Wow, nice play by Roberts. I wonder why Manny hasn't had one since '05?
thanman2
July 5, 2005 was Manny's last granny...
Malzone64
Manny's not running too well. Hamstrings? I could have beat that out. Well, maybe not, it was hit medium hard.

It's a good thing Ellsbuy can play CF and LF at the same time. How many times is Don going to repeat when Markakis was drafted this game alone?

Markakis was drafted by the Red Sox?

Dice-K: most maddening Red Sox pitcher I can remember. BB, HBP, BB after a great catch by Ellsbury. K - Now!

Edit, thanks, I'll have another.

I wish he was mellow.gif

DiceK is probably going to get the K after falling behind 3-0.
RedSoxAnni
11 LOB through five.

Come on, guys, these are the ORIOLES!
Malzone64
Squander after squander after squander. I wish Tek could just go fishin' instead of go the the ASG. Getting away completely might help. Payton had Jacoby played perfectly.
RedSoxAnni
Now Youk is out with a possible injury - hit on the elbow.
matty2578
Dice-K out for the 6th at 101 pitches..... unsure.gif
Red Sox Fan2
I love how the Rays game is already over.
SoxAroundTheWorld
And Dice-K through six with 115 pitches, but no earned runs. Incredible, really. He's a great pitcher, but he is no friend of the bullpen.

NYY lose, and TB trailing. Shaping up to be a nice Sunday evening.
RedSoxAnni
Rays lose, 5-2. Right now we're tied for first place.

Come on... We can win this one!

Hansen for one, Oki for one and Paps to finish? I was thinking, with the break, all Matsuzaka has to do is take the family for a swan boat or a duckboat ride, so let him start the seventh. But, I don't think so at 115 pitches.
RedSoxAnni
Not Oki! He's got an ERA of 13+ against the O's!

Must be the rising sun. Can't throw strikes. Come on!

Seems Tito likes to use Oki right after DiceK. Guess when you're in the mood for Asian, you want to stick with Asian.
Red Sox Fan2
Struggling to remember the closers name there?
RedSoxAnni
...and he promptly puts the tying runs on. Seven walks for the O's so far. This game is giving me indigestion.
Malzone64
Thank you Aubrey. I'll have another! That was ball 4.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Huff swings at the first pitch against a guy who had just walked two, then strikes out on ball 4. Put him on the payroll!
Malzone64
O's coaching staff in the dugout looks like a day at the Elks club lodge.
SoxAroundTheWorld
This has been said before, but bears repeating given recent events: Sean Casey is SLOW!!! Somebody tell him to stop trying to stretch singles to left into doubles.
Malzone64
Casey with another rope. Did he ever catch, I mean even in Little League? T-ball? Need his bat in the second half.

In addition to being SLOW, he is sometimes "not too swift"!

That said, this is the ugliest 2-0 game I have seen in a long, long time.

Got that right. Nice, though, to see good MDC make an appearance, despite the hanger to Scott.

MDC was "pretty" good out there though.

2 - 0 game, Sox hoping to get back into first place, nail biter, and all the TBS announcers talked about all half inning was whether some team ought to sign Barry Bonds. They even mentioned Clemens once.
ivebeentruped
Lugo would not have made that play
SoxAroundTheWorld
This is getting way too interesting...
TreeRol
FIRST PLACE! Thank you Dustin!
ivebeentruped
Had em all the way. The water is DIRTY in Boston.
wanderer
Given the pitching, I did a double-take when I saw the final line for Baltimore was "1 7 1". Wow... but I'll take it.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Whew! Nice to be back where they belong, even if the getting there was pretty darn ugly. Dice goes into the break with ten wins, while Pedroia has come awfully close to carrying the team recently. Good times, but what am I going to do without Sox baseball for the next four days?!?!?

Dirty water indeed. Love it.
