Game time: 10:05 pm EDT (7:05 pm PDT)

Scheduled Starters: Clay Buchholz (2-4, 5.70) v. John Lackey (6-2, 2.46)

The game will be on NESN.

Anaheim weather: 1 pm PDT (4 pm EDT) observation at KSNA: wind out of the west southwest at 8 mph, visibility 7 miles, sky clear, temperature 75F, DP 62F.

Forecast: A cool evening, with the wind blowing out toward right. There could be some fog forming by the end of the game. The marine layer is more than 2,000 feet deep and the fog just burned off at noon in the area, and is likely to form again.

I don't ever want the Sox to have the Thursday of All-Star week off again. I need my fix!!!!!

A reminder to those who are out of the Boston area and don't have the EI package...

EI is free this week. Unfortunately it won't help you Saturday because it's a FOX game, but you should be able to watch tonight and Sunday for free no matter what cable/satellite company you have. (Except Verzon FIOS which doesn't offer EI)

So, I have Comcast, as I said in a post yesterday, and I see the game on my Comcast menu, but it's MLB extra innings. Do they pick up and rebroadcast the EI feed? But, I thought it would be NESN that Comcast would pick up. I am new to this Comcast package. Also, Sunday's game is on ESPN.

With Directv you get your choice of broadcasts.

With cable you get only one broadcast which is usually that of the home team.

If you go to the EI channel it should be unblocked.

My bad regarding Sunday. Tonight is the only bonus Sox game those without EI will get.

I am pretty sure these Angels announcers can be a little more condescending toward Pedroia if they try hard.

That deflection into a double play was some crap luck. So irritating.
GreenBud
I'm not liking the start of this one.

This can keep you entertained for a bit.....

Buchholz must love AAA. How the F* did he even get outs there? He's looked like crap in every start this season. WTF?

Thanks for that. Vastly more entertaining than the game.

That was more fun than the bottom of the first.

Edit: damn you GreenMountainSoxFan!!!!!

I'm not watching - other than not being able to get people out, and that his ERA topped 6.00 at the end of the 1st inning - what's wrong with Bucholz tonight???
BigSlick
YOUUUUUKKKK!!!!!!!! His power this year has been a very pleasant surprise.

Down 3-2

He can't command for shit.
GreenMountainSoxFan
More innings like that please. kthx.
samba guy
I heard Clay had the most problems during the first inning, and after that he usually settles down. As Vlad hits a single.Ok, someone explain that play for us Gameday-watchers.

Floater into shallow center. Vlad took off thinking it was going to drop, but Ellsbury caught it just before he had to dive and doubled Vlad off 1st.

He can't command for shit.

He looks like a mechanic trainee with a new set of tools. Hard to believe he threw a no hitter last year. He's settled down since the first except for the Garret HR.
MFLetou
So much for that...what the hell happened to this guy's stuff?

He's not throwing ML quality pitches and hasn't all year. Its still a little early, but this is quite a regression. Obviously the Cora error didn't help him, but he wasn't making good pitches this inning.

Malzone64
Angels announcers ballwashing Cora all game...very smart, sure MLB manager someday, good hitter, good fielder, blah blah blah. Here, Angels, he's yours, free. Get Lowrie in there, now.
GreenBud
Game. Set.....

BAH!
GreenBud
Match.

Sometimes I'm amused by "Manny being Manny"

This isn't one of those times.

You do know that Boston's pitching coach wasn't happy with Clay's arm angle and started fiddling with him in spring training, right? Then the PawSox coach kept at him during his recent stint in Pawtucket.

I think the kid is thinking too much this year instead of just throwing, the way he did last year. It's called "paralysis by analysis" in golf.

That play is a new one, even by Manny's standards.
MFLetou
Maybe, but I'm not inclined to believe that John Farrell is solely responsible for Clay Bucholz hanging curveballs.

I stopped watching, went over to watch Cain vs. Sabathia. Now, that's a blowout too. CC throwing a one-hitter. A's - Yankees, not close. Tonight's games are just exhibition warmups for the second half, right? rolleyes.gif

What did Manny do this time?

What did Manny do this time?

He dove for a ball that hit five feet in front of him and skipped past him about 10 feet. Then he turned around and crawled after the ball on his hands and knees. When he got to it, he rolled over on it and reached behind him to pull the ball out from under his ass while Ellsbury hovered nearby like a nurse watching an operation. Manny got the ball and threw it back to the infield, then smiled broadly, as is his want.

Thanks. I think.
