Jarrod Ulrey - PawSox 3, Clippers 2 -- Kottaras wins it in the 10th

The clutch hitting of Kottaras and the pitching of Hansack were enough to help the PawSox snap a four-game losing streak. Reliever Chris Smith gave up singles to Roger Bernadina and Leonard Davis to open the 10th and Bernadina reached third on a flyout, but Luis Jimenez grounded into a double play as Pawtucket escaped with the win.

...

Hansack has been of Pawtucket’s hottest pitchers. Over his last seven starts, the 30-year-old is 3-1 with a 1.56 ERA in 46 innings. Last night was his first double-figure strikeout performance this season. …

Kevin Thomas - Rain tames last game with Ortiz; The hits weren't huge but Big Papi's presence was, despite dismal weather on his curtain call in Portland.

Wednesday's game started two hours late because of rain and then was suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning when the rain returned. The Sea Dogs led 2-1 with the bases loaded and two outs.

...

The Sea Dogs kept playing. In the bottom of the fourth, Argenis Diaz's RBI single tied it, and Tony Granadillo gave Portland a 2-1 lead with his RBI double to left.

Bryan Pritz walked to load the bases, but the umpires called for a halt.

The game was suspended and will be made up as part of a noon doubleheader today.

Kevin Thomas - Papi "almost" there; Masterson right on

Masterson was perfect, retiring all 8 batters he faced, three by strikeout. He faced four lefties and two K'd.

Then Craig Hansen almost gave it up, loading the bases in the bottom of the 12th, before getting the save.

Pawtucket starter Devern Hansack continues to have some really fine outings, like Wednesday's (7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 11 K) ... Chris Smith (2.37) got his 10th save, giving up 2 hits in the 10th inning.

Lancaster catcher/DH Jon Still (.282) went 2-for-5 with 2 doubles.

Greenville third baseman Michael Almanzar (.313) went 1-for-4.

In Lowell, Jeff Natale showed that he is more than through with his rehab time (2 doubles and a walk-off homer in the 9th) ... Catcher Tim Federowicx, the 7th round draft pick last month, out of North Carolina, was 3-for-3 with 2 stolen bases. He's batting .313 in 9 games.

In the Gulf Coast League, first-round draft choice Casey Kelly got his first hit (a double to left), and is hitting .050 (1-for-20) in 5 games.

J. Bennett Harris - Suns set on Drive, earn series split; Unearned runs spoil afternoon

Greenville (15-18) failed to take advantage of another strong outing from starting pitcher Ryne Lawson, who scattered five hits over seven innings of work and matched his season-high total of five strikeouts.

The right-hander extended his unearned run streak to 23 innings before giving up a RBI single to Hagerstown's Tim Pahuta in the sixth inning.

"Lawson was tremendous today," Boles said. "He has improved with every outing, especially since moving into the starting role. He's doing a really nice job for us."

JetHawks Blitzed by Storm in Second Straight Game

Lancaster struck first on a Jason Place double and Daniel Nava RBI single in the first inning. However, the JetHawks stranded two runners in scoring position and would not strike again until the eighth inning.

Meanwhile, the Storm built a big lead. They scored four times off starter Chris Jones in the first five innings. Three JetHawks errors and struggles by reliever Derrick Loop led to six more runs as the Storm took a 10-1 lead in the eighth.

The JetHawks closed the gap in the final two innings. Chih-Hsien Chiang and Zak Farkes had RBI hits and Jon Still's ground out brought home a run, but it proved too little too late.

Still had a pair of doubles to extend his hitting streak to ten straight games. Nava had three hits while Felipe Garcia turned in a scoreless inning of relief.
