Game time: 3;55 pm
Scheduled starters: Andy Pettitte (11-7, 3.86) v. Tim Wakefield (6-7, 3.69)
The game will be on FOX
Boston weather: 3 pm observation at KBOS: wind out of the south southeast at 5 mph, visibility 10 miles, scattered clouds at 7,500 feet, temperature 81F, DP 63F
Forecast: Sunny and warm. The wind is southeast at KBOS, but it's southwest just a few miles inland, under the influence of a weak high just off the coast. I would expect a more south/southwest wind at Fenway, which is blowing out toward left.

Manny running out the DP ball was an encouraging sight. Him not beating out the Jeter showoff jumping throw to 2nd wasn't.
And I love hving Papi back. Thanks for the run E-Rod.

Come on, how was he supposed to beat out a ground ball to SS. I know Jeter went to his left but theres no way he could have beat that out.
According to McCarver, Theo told them that if Manny would waive his no trade clause that they would be interested in trading him. Seems like this would have been reported elsewhere other than McCarver. Interesting though.
EDIT: Oh and apparently its similar to extortion according to McCarver as well. awesome.

if epstein said as just reported by boofhead that if manny would lift his no trade clause then they would talk to other clubs about a trade
but apparently with manny's contract he is untradeable
its an obvious catch 22, anybody got any ideas?
dont forget I know shit about trades and the suns just rising where i am

I don't know how Melky was not called out. The throw was in time, tag placed. That's two gift runs for the MFYs.
Edit, bring on football. Less dependent on officiating. Yeah, I know, pass interference calls, holding calls, but the referees at least have to be in shape. Baseball umps are the biggest joke in pro sports. Basketball second.
If the Sox lose today, what's the record for close games. Gotta be sub .500.

McCarver apparently is not only a cowbell, but a lazy cowbell.
Anybody hear him earlier in the game, speculating re. Manny's knee and the MRI? (paraphrasing) "I'm not an expert, but I would think the MRI would show it if there were a problem."
You're on a network broadcast -- is your job that strenuous, and you have so little support, that you can't look into that fairly obvious question? You're also a former big league player. Is there not a single orthopod or trainer you can call to ask? Please bring something to the table instead of just throwing out the same uninformed observations that any of us could make.
