Looks like Kotchman isn't playing today. SoxFanPJ provided a link saying he was pulled from the field and is on his way to Atlanta.

Oh snap! Did the Halos just get Teixeira?

Hopefully we can take advantage of the temporary hole in the lineup caused by Kotchman leaving.
And even more hopefully Teixeira doesn't join the Angels until New York.

Mike DiGiovanna, LA Times - Angels trade Casey Kotchman for Braves' Mark TeixeiraBOSTON -- The Angels acquired switch-hitting slugger Mark Teixeira from the Atlanta Braves today for infielder Casey Kotchman and minor league pitcher Stephen Marek.
The Angels have been looking for a slugger for the middle of the order, and Teixeira fills that role. He is batting .283 with 20 home runs and 78 runs batted in for the Braves.
Kotchman, 24, was pulled off the field before the game and told of the trade, after which he returned to the field to say goodbye to teammates. He is batting .287 with 12 home runs and 54 RBIs.
Teixeira, 28, is a two-time Gold Glove winner at first base who will be available as a free agent after the season. He could command a deal in the $200-million range this winter. He averaged 34 homers and 111 RBIs in his first five seasons and is about on that pace again this year.

Clay was cruising along until Lowell's error, and Cora definitely should've knocked that down. Damn.
Edit: Huge DP, though he looked safe at first. The game's not over just yet.

I didn't think it was that bad.. but past 50 games Tek is batting around 148, This is not good at all and its sad that we can't hit off John ****ing Lackey. Used to be able to sent him to showers by 4th inning

Lackey's at 74 pitches through 6. He's going to have a hard time finishing the no-hitter.

...Did Alex Cora seriously just let someone beat out a routine grounder to short?
I wasn't paying full attention...please tell me that it was dribbler or far to his right or something...

You missed it.
Cora charged that ball so hard it put Ernie Banks to shame, then fired with his hall-of-fame arm. He beat the runner by 10 feet but the umpire called him safe anyways.

The last out in that 1958 no-hitter by Jim Bunning was made by Ted Williams.
Fly ball to right field.

Well, I'm a little late to the, um, party tonight. This is nowhere near as exciting as Lester's efforts earlier in the season!
I had just had my wisdom teeth taken out and was completely out of it when Bosio worked his magic in the Kingdome, so I don't have a "personal" memory of that. I was pissed, however, when I found out about it the next morning.
And I think that Mussina effort in 2001 was just awful, and showed just how bad things had gotten at Fenway. When Everett got that hit, Fenway acted almost like they had just won a post-season series! Yes, we had just been swept by the Yankees, and our playoff hopes had died. Arg!!

The 9th inning went the best way possible without tying/winning.
We break up the no-no and the shutout, but don't let it get to a save situation for that cowbell K-Rod.
