Well if Manny is indeed going to the Dodgers (I'll also believe it when I see it), then he shouldn't be playing against the Red Sox this season, as I highly doubt the LAD are going to the WS this year. Manny might end up as a Yankee next year though.

All in all, this seems to be the least bad of the alternatives I heard discussed. The prospects Pittsburgh got are crap in my opinion. Still, getting another goddam Boras client in the deal is kind of like waking up on Christmas morning and finding someone took a shit under your tree. The Sox need to reduce the amount of business they do with this guy and the fact that Ellsbury hired him as agent last year leads me to believe that he may not be as big a long term asset as I once thought. He's already dipping into Boras type underperformance this summer.

Manny Ramirez has been traded to the Dodgers in a three-team blockbuster, pending the approval of the commissioner's office, according to a source with knowledge of the deal.
Pirates outfielder Jason Bay is headed to the Red Sox. The Pirates will receive Andy LaRoche and right-hander Bryan Morris from the Dodgers and outfielder Damien Moss and releiver Craig Hansen from the Red Sox.
The Red Sox will pay all of the approximately $7 million remaining on Ramirez's contract.

When I first complimented this trade, I didn't see the Hansen and Moss part. This is nearly as big a pile of shit as the Florida proposals. I don't think Moss has that much high end potential and I think that Hanson will always be just another greedy, underperforming Boras client, but the Sox sent out too much for too little in return here.

I'm all for moving Manny but Jason Bay, while talented, is a big drop-off from Manny.
Hansen is also no big loss but he was an arm that still needs replacing.
Moss, while he had no future here, was still a trading chip for another future move, IMO.
All in all, I don't like the trade overall.
