Full Version: Oakland at BOSTON, Saturday, August 2, 2008
Royal Rooters > THE COOLER > ROYAL ROOTERS ARCHIVES > 2008 REGULAR SEASON GAME THREADS
RedSoxAnni
Game time: 7:05 pm

Scheduled starters: Dana Eveland (7-7, 3.88) v. Jon Lester (9-3, 3.17)

The game will be on NESN.

Boston weather: 4 pm observation at KBOS: Wind out of the east at 7 mph, visibility 0.5 mile in a thunderstorm, fog, and mist, broken layer at 200 feet, overcast layer at 2,000 feet with cumulonimbus, temperature 68F, DP 65F

Forecast: Wet. There's a low to our northwest and another to the southeast, and a weak warm front across Long Island Sound, with some very heavy thunderstorms moving along that boundary; the system looks like it could be an MCS. At 4 pm there was a line of thunderstorms with some imbedded severe storms moving west to east from the Worcester area into Boston. There are other storms in western MA and also west of Albany, all moving toward the east/northeast. The storms are moving slowly, at around 25-30 mph, and are dumping a lot of water.

Once the line affecting Boston moves out of the area, in a few hours, there should be a break before round 2, so they might be able to get this game in.

Updates to follow.
RedSoxAnni
The back edge of the rain is approaching Boston at 6 pm, and the next line of storms is about 3-4 hours away, if it holds together. So they should be able to play this game, and if they play fast, they should be able to stay dry.

Give it some time. Bay reminds me of an old Red Sox RHH, lanky guy, but I can't place him. Maybe Clyde Vollmer.
jbelushi
well it might take a while to wipe this smile of my face

three run double, still no one out
Malzone64
Drew must have flown around the bases. Who was I debating with today about who's faster, Bay or Drew? They're both fast enough, but Drew is faster.

Everybody's gettin' inta da act.

Dewey?

Not Dewey, but Bay looks to be built something like him. It is Vollmer.

Mike's Dogs
It's kind of a shame that Lester was matched up against this Oakland pitcher. They certainly didn't need him tonight. But, after last night, I guess he can give the bullpen a rest. The kid is something else.

Man, is Youk ever mashing the ball. I don't think anyone dared to try to catch that rocket. And, he hustles out of the box like he's trying to beat out a grounder. What a man.

I feel so good with this team now. I love the difference in speed this trade brought us. And I love how we have so many young guys at key positions. I was calling, and still am, that Lowrie and Pedroia are gonna be a hell of a middle infield duo.

Every starter got at least one hit tonight, and every starter scored except Varitek and Crisp. Yeah, keep Lowrie in there to go with Pedroia. Good duo.
