The PawSox hit three home runs in the bottom of the eighth and tied the score at 7-7. That set up a heroic at-bat for Pawtucket pinch-hitter Jeff Corsaletti (2-for-2, 2 runs scored, RBI). With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Corsaletti hit a walk-off home run to lift Pawtucket to a thrilling 8-7 victory.

Kevin Thomas - Dogs leave bases loaded twice, fall 3-2 to Thunder; In a possible playoff preview, the Sea Dogs fail to take advantage of their chances against Trenton.

Johnson, the 40th overall pick in the 2006 draft, has emerged as Portland's best after promotions for Justin Masterson and Michael Bowden.

Johnson (7-6, 3.49) gave up five hits and three walks over six innings but minimized the damage. He gave up two runs, one earned.

"He pitched effective enough and was rarely in trouble," Sea Dogs catcher Mark Wagner said.

Trenton made it 3-0 in the seventh, as reliever Richie Lentz allowed his first earned run in 10 innings, on a walk and two singles.

With the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom half, Anderson swatted a ball off the left-field wall. Bates, who was on first base, played it safe and stayed at second base. "You're in limbo," Bates said. "You don't want to make the first out at third base."

Wagner followed with a single to left. Beyeler had to stop Bates at third.

Wilkins Arias relieved Jones. He struck out Mickey Hall, got Khoury to pop up to short and struck out Iggy Suarez.

In the eighth, Portland loaded the bases on a Bryan Pritz single and a pair of two-out walks. Wagner popped up to third.
