Royal Rooters > THE COOLER > ROYAL ROOTERS ARCHIVES > 2008 REGULAR SEASON GAME THREADS
RedSoxAnni
Game time: 1:35 pm

Scheduled starters: Dallas Braden (2-1, 4.39) v. Daisuke Matsuzaka (11-2, 3.04)

The game will be on NESN

Boston weather: 11 am observation at KBOS: Wind out of the northwest at 8 mph, visibility 10 miles, scattered clouds at 2,600 feet, broken layers at 3,000 and 3,800 feet, temperature 76F, DP 63F

Forecast: Iffy. The low is centered right off the MA/NH coast, with the weak cold front moving offshore. There's a lot of instability behind it, with very cold air aloft, and just enough sun this morning to set the stage for some convection this afternoon. There's a disturbance in northwest VT now, and it is slowly pinwheeling around the low, moving slowly toward the southeast. The cloud shield associated with that system is moving into central MA at noon, and it's likely to end up being mostly cloudy to overcast this afternoon in Boston, with a chance of showers and thundershowers, and possibly an intense cell or two with hail and strong winds coming through the area.

They will play the game, but there could be a rain delay later in the afternoon. They will start on time.

There's some light rain about 25 miles northwest of Boston, and a couple cells on the North Shore, near Salem and Gloucester. They will play this game, but they could get wet, or even have a short rain delay.

yes well lets hope dice k can cut down on the walks so its a shorter game
BigSlick
That was an ugly swing by Ortiz.
jbelushi
dice k being dice k?
GreenMountainSoxFan
OK, that was kind of impressive to lock down after allowing the leadoff triple. Still on pace for 5 innings though.

As he said it, berry berry good. smile.gif

So, what ARE the Sox going to do with Lugo? There is absolutely no way you bench Lowrie now, and I don't care about not losing your starting role due to injury. Ask Drew Bledsoe.

why not just hold onto him until we have to dispose of him, you never know what might happen down the stretch

all though i certainly hope its lowrie being productive for the rest of the season

I'm just afraid they may throw Lugo back out there.

Daric Barton HR, 4 - 2 now. The A's had very high hopes for Barton but he's been a major disappointment. Dice-K made him feel a lot better. mad.gif

The things I say are usually worth repeating whistle.gif

Those clouds look nasty. Could be a rain delay very shortly.

Edit: Rain delay with a 3-2 count to Tek and runners on 2nd and 3rd nobody out.

Last week we had umpire buttcrack sweat and today it's plain ol' buttcrack from the tarp rollerouter. Even the A's announcers were laughing.

Angels just gave the lead back to the Yankees with three errors in the eighth. Why didn't they play like that against us? Meanwhile, Farnsworth, pitching for Detroit, gives up a homer to Hinske. Sox gotta get it done on their own, no help in sight. Kind of true anyway.

I turned on the A's radio broadcast, but I live in Silicon Valley. 5 - 2. C'mon Oki.

Gonzo flies out to end the seventh for the A's. Street in (maybe to show his stuff for a later move to Boston?).

Yeah, well, the A's TV broadcast goes to one million year old reruns during a rain delay, but the radio broadcast has nowhere to go.Youks is hotter than a two dollar pistol.MDC is against Ellis, Cust and Thomas. Them's the A's best. Come on MDC.

Water. The Tigers, with all their offensive pickups can't pitch for shit. We're just going to have to beat the Yankees and Rays ourselves. Leland going on his fifth pack of cigs.

And, Fernando Rodney walks in the winning run. No complaints about our bullpen.

Imagine - Farnsworth was an upgrade for that bullpen.

Earlier in the day it looked like the Sox had a good chance to pick up a game in the standings....

The Red Sox drew even today in number of home games vs. away games played, but the Rays have still played eight more at home than on the road. And, they play on the road almost as badly as we do. That home/road differential could just about make up for the three game deficit we have right now. I also really like the "new team" as it's constituted.

It's funny but the Rays never seem to play anyone any good and the Yanks never seem to be on the road. That won't change for the Rays in the short term, but at least the Yanks will head out west. The Sox schedule is ridiculously more favorable in September, they just need to stay in it until then, and proving they can beat a winning team when they get to Chicago would be nice.

I like the "new team" too. Need Ortiz to get on track now.
