RedSoxAnni
Game time: 7:05 EDT (6:05 CDT)

Scheduled starters: Daisuke Matsuzaka (12-2, 3.04) v. Jose Contreras (7-6, 4.60)

The game will be on NESN

Chicago weather: 4 pm CDT (5 pm EDT) observation at KMDW: wind out of the west at 12 mph, visibility 10 miles, broken clouds at 3,900, 4,500, and 6,000 feet with cumulonimbus, temperature 78F, DP 63F

Forecast: A cold front is moving south through the area, and bands of convection are pinwheeling conterclockwise around a deep surface low centered west of Toronto. This is bringing bands of showers to the area, and there's a chance of rain or thundershowers throughout the evening. Most of the time it probably will not be raining, but there is a chance of rain. The wind will be blowing straight out.

Adding insult to injury for you...it's some idiot who spent parts of 3 seasons playing for the Boston Red Sox. Parts of no seasons at all playing for the Chicago White Sox.

Of course, I'd want to forget my time with the Red Sox, too, if I had an embarrassing 1-13 showing for the Sox in the '67 World Series.

I'm so glad DirecTV gives home and away broadcasts this year.

EDIT: double post

EDIT 2: Down goes Contreras! Down goes Contreras!
Malzone64
How does Lowrie not score on that? Jeabus Christa.

I don't get Lowrie not scoring on that play. I don't know about you guys but I'm thinking achillies injury for Contreras.

It's weird that they were looking at his ankle...he was grabbing the back of his thigh. I figured it was a hamstring at first. Could be an achilles with the sudden stop/change of direction. He had an awful lot of crap in his spikes. If that was from that play, then achilles is very plausible (and that grounds crew should be ashamed).
Malzone64
Lowrie looks too tentative on the basepaths. Not scoring there was as bad as Suppan in the '04 series, considering Suppan is a pitcher. Of course, with Tek up next it makes it look twice as bad.

pedroia's hit was just described as a "prototype duck snort" by aforementioned air head

Papi looked absolutely clueless in that AB

Varitek has a pretty good OBP this year relative to his batting average (which, of course, still makes it a horrific OBP) - but he could probably add 20 points to his average and 40 points to his OBP if he would stop chasing those high pitches.
Malzone64
Good job not trading for Uribe. He looks to be gaining on Mo Vaughn at this point.

Edit, so Dice-K walks him. And ****s up the bunt by Pierzynski. This team is so screwed on the road.

That is apparently a common phrase in his repertoire:

Oh well, the ChiSox don't look to be in any hurry to score either. Anybody watch the Angels game today? Unless they get a bunch of injuries, they look so much better than anybody else.
jbelushi
shove that DP up your "hee gonee" mr ken harrelson you backward, sheep f!@#$%^ halfwit!!
Renton
Lowrie looks to have a MUCH better swing than Lugo. Looks like the type of guy that could possibly hit 15+ HR in a year in the near future.

I wish Contreras was still in the game.

I take it you're watching WGN? You'd think if the other team's starter had to leave in the 2nd inning, you'd probably get a run or two off the next guy? Not our heroes.

First point: like night and day.Second: Yup.
Malzone64
Dice-K would be right there for Cy Young with Cliff Lee if he didn't walk so many batters. Maybe next year. He still keeps you in the game though.
BigSlick
So far I am liking this Logan guy.

Edit: HOLY SHIT I DIDN'T JINX IT!!!! 5-1 Sox!

Jacoby with the Solo Shot.

Ellsbury looks like he's back, or getting there.

Funny listening to WGN. They were insinuating that the Red Sox were getting soft, cheap hits. Uhm.........This when the White Sox have 3 hits, 2 of which where bunts.
rominer
Pierzynski has certainly been helpful this evening.

I'm watching WGN also. They just pointed out Pierzynski has 3 GIDPs and a K. Is that as bad as a golden sombrero (which always sounds obscene to me)?
rominer
Jason Bay's biggest weakness as a hitter seems to be the hanging breaking ball.

He doesn't seem to chase too many breaking balls way out of the zone. And the ones in the zone that do more or less what the pitcher wants, he appears to be able to foul off or put into play (though, more often for ground balls than solid hits). The hangers, though - the ones that he should be putting into the seats - he seems to always swing right through.

I wonder if that's a "The NL is fastball league" adjustment that he's in the process of making, or if it's a glaring hole in his swing?

Look at those fireworks go!
GreenMountainSoxFan
The fireworks seem especially retarded in this situation.
BigSlick
A solo HR with 2 outs in the 9th so your team is now down by four are worthy of fireworks???
acr
If we can get this Daisuke for the stretch run, and not the one who walks everyone under the sun, we'll be in damn good shape.
